How to build trust and credibility when speaking to others!

Hi Everyone,

As a communicator it's vitally important to speak with credibility. When you have it...90% of the work to convey your message to someone else is done!

Here are a few great ways to build credibility...

1. Know your subject backwards and forwards, inside and out. If someone asks you a question and you do not know the answer 100% - tell them you do not know and get them the answer at another time. OR...send them to someone else.
2. Speak as you normally would. Do not try to be too polished. This comes off as insincere. Does Bill Gates need to take speaking lessons to speak publically about computers?
3. Walk your talk. If you're telling someone they need to do something - make sure you are doing it or have done it in the past.
4. Don't pretend to know everything. Only speak about subjects your qualified to address. Do you really think everyone believes your that smart anyway?
5. Have fun. Remember...enthusiasm is contagious.
6. Talk about positive subjects. In the end...most people you talk to can care less about your personal problems.
7. Lighten up on the gossip. You cannot make yourself taller by ripping down others. Anyone with half-a-brain knows that if you're gossiping about someone to them - you will gossip about them to someone else. Most gossips are losers!
8. Speak your opinion. Most people are corporate yes-men losers. Stand up for yourself and be your own person.
9. Watch the profanities. You will come off as boorish - a philistine at best. What good are they anyway?
10. If you have nothing nice to say about anyone...REFRAIN. It will do you no good - so why bother?

BONUS TIP: Put nothing in an e-mail, voicemail, video, or any written format that can come back and bite you in the behind. Everytime you write/say something in a format that can be recorded or written down - think real hard if you really want it on record.

OK...I just received a phenomenal new DVD camcorder for Christmas and am ready to start the the video blog. Stay tuned for some cool stuff!

Also, I've been real busy over the holidays. That said, I'll be getting my Washington pictures up sometime this week.

10 Rules for Living the Good Life!

Hi Everyone,

Thomas Jefferson was both a stellar statesman and a poignant commmunicator!

The following are his famous "10 Rules for Living the Good Life."

1. NEVER put off till tomorrow what you can do today.

2. NEVER trouble another for what you can do yourself.

3. NEVER spend your money before you have it.

4. NEVER buy what you do not want because it is cheap; it will never be dear to you.

5. PRIDE costs us more than hunger, thirst, and cold.

6. NEVER repent of having eaten too little.

7. NOTHING is troublesome that we do willingly.

8. DON’T let the evils which have never happened cost you pain.

9. ALWAYS take things by their smooth handle.

10. WHEN angry, count to ten before you speak; if very angry, count to one hundred.

I believe in these 10 rules with so much fervor - I've re-designed the original passage and having it framed for my personal office.

You may want to do the same.

Until next time...

Willpower and discipline does you no good in the long run!

Hi Everyone,

The other day someone tried to get me to help them with something by bribing me with a pizza dinner and I refused. Now, granted, I still helped them out - but pizza had nothing to do with it.

Where is this going? Keep reading my friend.

When I refused, this person who shall remain nameless said half-jokingly, "You're the first person I have not been able to bribe with pizza." I told her, "I could really careless about food to start with. And pizza is plain trash." Her response was, "You have such willpower. You're so disciplined." I thought about that for a moment and said to myself, "She really has no clue who I am or what I'm about."

Does she really think everyone likes eating fatty, cholesterol-filled garbage like pizza? Maybe she's wired to think that way - not me. Wired...now there's a new one huh? Ok...I have more to explain.

I thought about it some more and I remembered how many people also accuse me of having such high-and-mighty "discipline" to get up almost every morning at 5am to go to the gym or get other things done.

The truth of the matter is that I have no discipline or willpower! I may be the most undisciplined person on the planet. For me to have willpower or discipline suggests that forces outside myself are telling me to do things I do not want to do - like eat trashy food, sleep extra late, and not work out - and that I'm tempted. I do not experience temptation - as that would suggest I'm completely out of control.

You can reprogram yourself to think anyway you want about anything! Some of us really like going to the gym, eating healthier, managing our finances, treating people well, and staying positive! Not everyone is wired to go with the opinion of the masses.

It's as simple as this...when some first think of pizza...they go mmmmmmm!
When I think of pizza.I go eeewwwwwwwww! (And I'm not the only one.)

When some people's alarm clocks go off...they immediately think "snooze."
When my alarm goes off...I think time to get "rocking!"

Same experience - different programming.

The bottom line formula for long-lasting change is be-do-have!

If you want to be thin...you need to first program yourself to think like someone who LIKES to be thin...then you will voluntarily do what thin people do to stay thin...then you will have a thin body. And this has absolutely nothing to do with willpower or discipline.

If it takes willpower and discipline for you to form a new habit - it will never work long-term. You'll be focusing on being someone you are not and eventually old habits will creep back!

Enough said...get busy starting the reprogramming process and you can have everything you've always wanted.

Until next time...

Are you asking yourself these superb questions?

Hi Everyone,

I want to take a moment and teach you a technique that you can use right away to be a more effective "challenge" solver. The foundation of this technique lies in the what questions you ask yourself and the answers you come up with.

Before we get going you need to understand that whenever you ask yourself a question - your mind comes up with some sort of answer. For instance -- think of a challenge your facing, and ask yourself, "Why does this always happen to me?" Or, "Why don't people like me?" "Why am I so unsuccessful?" If you did this correctly and with emotion - you noticed your mind came up with some sort of negative answer!

Now let's turn it around.

What if you had a challenge and asked yourself questions like, "What is great about this challenge? How about, "What is not perfect?" Or one of my favorites -- "What am I willing to do about?" Here's another good one -- "who can help me solve this challenge?" How about this gem -- "What step can I take to start solving this challenge today?" You see, your mind gives you an answer to the positive questions also.

The key is to keep asking yourself questions that will help you solve challenges - not perpetuate them!

One resource that can help you understand the power of questions is Tony Robbin's stellar book, Awaken the Giant Within.

You can get it at...
http://www.amazon.com/dp/0671791540?tag=peterwinkscom-20&camp=14573&creative=327641&linkCode=as1&creativeASIN=0671791540&adid=1EZT13CEZTABKMA430XN&

Remember, the quality of your life is dictated by how you manage the following...
- Your level of health
- The quality of your relationships
- Your willingness to act on your ideas
- Who you associate with regularly
- Your ability to leverage others
- How you invest your time and money
- Ways you spend your free time
- Ability to assuage or eradicate prejudice against others
- How you get along with coleagues, coworkers, friends, and family
- And of course how you talk yourself

A must-read book for anyone wanting to get wealthy!

Hi Everyone,

If you want to read a book that can help you get on the path to wealth...then you must get the new book "Why We Want You To Be Rich" by Donald Trump and Robert Kiyosaki!

Donald Trump, a billionaire and Robert Kiyosaki, a multi-millionaire, will teach you...
- The difference between the three types of investors and why only one type will always come out on top!
- How you can become this type of investor!
- Why being an employee is the least financially secure route to wealth!
- How the government is robbing the middle class of their hard-earned money!
- The cash flow quadrant and how you can take advantage of it!
- How to become a business owner and take advantage of the last of the government tax breaks!
- Why the United States is becoming a "rich" or "poor" nation - completely wiping out the middle class!

And much more!

This book is a major eye opener that's sure to have a major impact on financial education! Just yesterday, I personally made a major decision from reading this book! And I will not turn back no matter what the risk.

On top of the education, here are some startling facts I learned in this book...
- Huge problems killing the economy like the falling value of the dollar, a national debt out of control, a growing trade deficit, baby boomers that will not have enough for retirement, inflated oil prices stalling the economy, and the lack of tax breaks for the middle class.
- The staggering growth of China and India and how the United States finances it!
- The "entitlement" mentality of Americans and their false sense of security with the finances managed by the government!
- The decline of social security, Medicare, and Medicaid!
- A very real threat of the United States government eventually going bankrupt in the coming years!
- What these wars are really costing us in debt we can no longer afford!

Pay the $15 and get this book right away. This was some of the best money I ever spent and I'm sure you'll feel the same way.

You can order "Why We Want You To Be Rich" by going to...

Staking the hearts of the "time vampires!"

Hi Everyone,

Call me dellusional, call me crazy - each day, without fail, I'm haunted with the same phrase going through my mind like an out of control ghost train - "manage your time or someone else will." Where am I going with this? Good question!

I was thumbing through a terrific book called "No B.S. Business Success" by marketing legend/guru Dan Kennedy.

In this book, Dan talks about the importance of managing your time well and keeping away so-called time-wasters or as Dan so eloquently refers to them - "time vampires."

Dan says, "Time vampires are people dedicated to sucking up your time. In the process, they also suck out a lot of your energy, leaving you white, weak, and behind schedule. These are the repetitive drop-in visitors or the employees who coin the famous phrase, "Got a Minute?" They also include people who suffer from the chronic disease called "meeting-itis."

The profile of these individuals include being disorganized, as well as lack of respect for you, your time, and your goals. When you see them --- run the other way quickly!

For those of you not into running, and I can't imagine why not, try the following...
- Tell them you only have "five" minutes and politely keep checking your watch as they talk
- Say "Sorry I have another meeting"
- Ask their objective for talking to you
- Have them set up a formal meeting according to YOUR calendar
- When you want them to leave - get up and start subtly walking them to the door

Great advice huh?

Remember - your time is YOUR life and nobody elses. Time is like money - you need to spend it wisely. And like money - don't let anybody spend your time for you.

To get a copy of Dan's book "No B.S. Business Success", go to...

Hi Everyone,

I have a feeling the title of this blog could be slightly misleading - maybe got you a little excited. Ok...I admit I did it on purpose. And for good reason.

Even though sex is not the subject of this blog - you'll find an article worth reading and yes...you'll find 50 ways to get lucky. Not in the bedroom - but in the boardroom.

I came across a gem of an article written by business guru, best-selling author and management icon, Tom Peters, called "The Pursuit of Luck." This article will show you 50 ways to shake things up and make things happen for yourself and your business today!

You can access it at... http://www.tompeters.com/blogs/main/PDFs/PursuitofLuck1992.pdf

I really liked the advice in this article - especially when he said..."Try it. Cut the baloney and get on with something." This is the only way to make any changes.

This reminded me of something very poignant. A week ago, me and my wife Stephanie dined with marketing wizard and CEO of BluBlocker Corporation, Joe Sugarman and his wife Leila Sas, Mrs. World Competitor.

The conversation between me and Joe quickly turned to success strategies. I'll never forget what he said. Joe stressed the importance of taking risks and trying new things. He personally got where he is by constantly trying new things and and stretching himself consistently. If you knew Joe - you'd know he walks his talk!

That said...at the end of each day, take a moment and ask yourself..."Did I get THROUGH the day? Or did I get FROM the day? What did I learn today? Am I growing or dying?"

And when you're done answering, re-read Tom Peter's article.

Until next time...

I'm a changed man!

Hi Everyone,

I never thought I'd say it. I'm officially a Mac user!

I just purchased a new iMac with every bell and whistle imaginable. I'm going to use it for all my personal and professional work including audio and video-editing for my upcoming "Peter Wink" Self Development Show."
Cool stuff!

And being Mr. Inquisitive...I took a trip to the library and picked up a stack of books about the iMac, Mac Users, and the Apple company.

I just finished reading one these books, a great one called "The Apple Way." This book discusses 12 management lessons from what's called the"world's most innovative company."

My favorite section, which is applicable to any company, is called "Build the Cult." As most of you know, Apple is a cult brand with one of the most loyal followings of any company - even rivaling Harley-Davidson and NIKE.

Here are some fascinating lessons from Apple on building a loyal following or "cult":
- Use your most intelligent, influential, and committed users to spread the word!
- Come up with the next big thing like they did with the iPod and iMac!
- Encourage users to form their own support groups online!
- Give users a small freebie to provide advice to you about your product/service!
- Become a media darling!
- Always stay one step ahead of the competition!
- Provide high quality at reasonable prices!
- Build temples for your customers like the Apple Store in the brick and mortar world and dot Mac in the online world!

To pick up "The Apple Way" go to...
http://www.amazon.com/Apple-Way-Jeffrey-L-Cruikshank/dp/0072262338/sr=8-1/qid=1159737098/ref=pd_bbs_1/002-0725138-6704833?ie=UTF8&s=books

Have to run...I have more reading to do.

Until next time...

Is winning any indication of growth? Maybe! Maybe not!

Hi Everyone,

Is "victory" really an indication of growth and success?

Not necessarily! It really depends on the quality of your competition.

That's right! To truly be successful you need to push yourself in every area of your life.

Part of this is getting around people who are playing in business and in life at a much higher level than you are. If you're running 10ks and want to run marathons - you have to get around marathon runners. If you want to become a millionaire - start hanging around and learning from people earning over a million dollars a year. If you want to speak more eloquently - get around eloquent speakers. I think you get the message.

I know people who hang around with, and compete against people inferior to them in different ways - so they can temporarily feel superior. This does not make people winners. It really makes them losers - and deep down they know it!

Remember - there are two ways to build a taller building. 1. Knock down someone elses (loser's approach), or 2. Build the bigger building (winner's approach).

Personally, I'd rather lose to someone much better than me - than win against someone inferior.
Let your victories be real and your losses an indicator of how much further you need to push.

"Grow" or "perish"...the choice is yours!

Until next time...

Use this strategy and save BIG money!

Hi Everyone,

Did you know that by eliciting one of my favorite negotiation strategies you can save BIG money no matter what you purchase?

It's true!

The strategy is called "Never Take the First Offer or Counteroffer" – This is simply refusing to accept the “other side’s” first offer or counteroffer.

Before I go too far here, you have to understand that most companies build huge profit margins into their products and services. This is how they make money! Therefore, there’s still room in the asking price for a little savvy bargaining.

Let’s look at an example from the wonderful world of contractors.

Anytime you get a bid on construction work, you can be assured the contractor built in a HUGE profit margin. Almost 100% of the time, you can refuse their first bid and they’ll immediately submit a new bid with a lower price. My advice is to refuse the second bid as well. Say, “That isn’t within our budget” or “At that price, we’re forced to request further bids from other companies.” Bottom line…test them!

Test them and see if they come at you with a third or fourth counteroffer. Most of the time, you’ll get at least one counteroffer. Usually two! They won’t admit it, but believe me when I say...they want your business every bit as much as you need them to do the work!

And always turn down initial counteroffers!

Always remember…the person making the first offer takes the risk of being rejected and helps the “other side” establish their negotiation strategy. Remember...never make the first offer!

To learn more negotiating strategies, please pick up a copy of my book "Negotiate Your Way to Riches" by going to http://www.amazon.com/dp/1564146901?tag=peterwinkscom-20&camp=14573&creative=327641&linkCode=as1&creativeASIN=1564146901&adid=0S1Q9NATJR651KBJJJ40

Conquer worry once and for all!

Hi Everyone,

Dale Carnegie is best known as a genius communicator and the author of the bestseller, "How to Win Friends And Influence People." What you may not know is that he was also brilliant when it came to the mind/body connection.

That said...Dale Carnegie's best book actually be a little-known work of art called "How To Stop Worrying And Start Living." In this book, he talks all about how to keep from worrying yourself into an early grave and embrace the day.

One part of this masterpiece book talks about breaking the worry "habit." Most of us are guilty of utilizing this habit from time-to-time. Some of us do this all the time!

When I start to worry about something, I refer to Dale Carnegie's 6 rules for breaking the worry habit...
Rule #1: Crowd worry out of your mind by keeping busy. Plenty of action is one of the best therapies ever devised for curing "wibber gibbers."
Rule #2: Don't fuss about trifles. Don't permit little things - the termites of life - to ruin your happiness.
Rule #3: Use the law of averages to outlaw your worries. Ask yourself, "What are the odds against this thing happening at all?"
Rule #4: Cooperate with the inevitable. If you know a circumstance is beyond your power to change or revise, say to yourself: "It is so, it cannot be otherwise."
Rule #5: Put a stop-loss order on your worries. Decide just how much anxiety a thing may be worth - and refuse to give it anymore.
Rule #6: Let the past bury it's head. Don't saw sawdust.

I usually have another saying that I refer to..."This too shall come to pass."

In closing, don't sweat the little stuff. In fact, don't sweat the big stuff. Life's too short - live every day like it could be your last. It just may be!

Until next time...

To be an effective communicator...you NEED this!

Hi Everyone,

A great orator once said...your ability to communicate with others is only as good as the depth of your vocabulary. I think there's a lot of truth to that statement. After all...the more words you know - the more things you can say in more ways!

I personally have completed vocabulary programs like Vocab from the Nightingale-Conant Corporation and the world famous Verbal Advantage. Both were very insightful. They both also took a great deal of time and commitment. Now there's a better way to learn!

If you want a simple way to improve your vocabulary every day, please go to...
http://signup.dictionary.com/wordoftheday

Here you can sign up to have a word-a-day sent directly to your e-mail box.

That's 365 words to learn every year! Talk about an advantage for communication! You'll also be able to read faster with more accuracy.

Oh well...time to go to work on my new book. Time to use some of those new words!

Until next time...

Have you discovered this temple?

Hi Everyone,

Did you know there's a place where you can learn just about anything you want?

Want to get rich? Start a new career? Learn a new skill? Discover someone's life story? Embrace the newest technology? No problem - it's all here! And there's so much more!

Where is this temple? It's probably no more than 10 minutes from your home...your local library!

That's right...the key to the treasure chest is right in front of you. The question is...will you take the key and grab the booty. I personally visit the library almost every weekend. Just this week, I picked up 15 new music & audiobook CDs to listen to while I'm getting ready in the morning, as well as picking up books on a host of terrific topics including podcasting, economics, trends, sales, cults, and a biography of one of my personal heroes...robber baron & corporate raider Jay Gould.
The library can be worth millions to you if you take advantage of all it has to offer. If you do not have one, get a library card today, and start your new journey. The skies the limit when it comes to learning.

This morning, a good friend of mine e-mailed me a quote from Benjamin Disraeli that says it all - "Nurture your mind with great thoughts, for you will never go any higher than you think."

What do you want to think about today? Are your thoughts taking you higher or pushing you down? Are you growing or eroding? Living every day to it's fullest or sitting on your rear complaining and doing nothing? The choice is always yours! Like Earl Nightingale says, "You become what you think about."

Get in your car and check out your local library. Take an hour or so and just peruse the shelves - you may find a book that sets your sail toward a new frontier. You never know until you try.

Think BIG!

Until next time...

Patton said it best!

Hi Everyone,

I was re-reading one of my FAVORITE books the other day called "Patton on Leadership." This book talks about Patton's military strategies and how they translate to success in your life.

One of my favorite passages is called "Keep Moving."

Patton's quote says "When you dig a fox hole, you dig your grave!"

I like this quote because it reminds me to keep progressing and stop waiting for the perfect time to do or accomplish something. Digging a fox hole is like digging your own grave. Wow...that's food for thought!

Patton goes on to describe how the winning attitude is one of movement and progress, not digging in and just holding your ground. Defensive postures are illusions both in war and in daily life. While digging in may make you feel safe - you have in all reality transformed yourself into a stationary target. Action is preferable to inaction. Remember...the journey of a thousand miles begins with one small step. I did not run 26.2 miles in a marathon - I ran 1 mile 26.2 times - same result - better psychology! And then repeated it 5 times.

So I ask you to ponder the questions: Am I digging a daily foxhole and deluding myself into believing I'm playing it safe? Or am I taking immediate decisive action EVERYDAY that's bringing me closer to my dreams and goals.

If you want to pick up a copy of "Patton on Leadership" - and I highly suggest you do - go to...

Until next time...
Peter

PS...End this question (to yourself) ---- If I knew it was impossible to fail, I would XXXXXXXX. This may tell you a lot about yourself and what you should be pursuing.

Discover the latest revelation in learning and entertainment!

Hi Everyone,

Now that my new website at www.peterwink.com is up and running...the questions are pouring in!

A reader wrote and asked me what podcasting is and how they can download the latest and greatest podcasts.

Well first and foremost, come October, you'll be able to get podcasts of the Peter Wink Self Development Show featuring seminars and interviews on a multitude of self help, health, and business topics. So stay tuned for a surprise sneak peak sometime very soon!

For now...here's the definition of podcast right from Wikipedia...

Podcasting is the method of distributing multimedia files, such as audio or video programs, over the Internet using syndication feeds, for playback on mobile devices and personal computers. The term (a portmanteau), was coined in 2004 combining "iPod", a popular portable audio device, and "broadcasting."

The term podcast, like 'radio', can mean both the content and the method of delivery. The host or author of a podcast is often called a podcaster. Though podcasters' web sites may also offer direct download or streaming of their content, a podcast is distinguished from other formats by its ability to be downloaded automatically using software capable of reading feeds like RSS or Atom.

Usually a podcast features one type of 'show', with new episodes released either sporadically or at planned intervals such as daily or weekly. In addition, there are podcast networks that feature multiple shows on the same feed.

My two favorite podcasting sites include...

There are many more. If you find one you like, please post it to this blog.

Until next time...
Peter

PS...I'm wasn't kidding. My dream of becoming a talk show host is becoming reality. And the Peter Wink Show will be coming sooner than you think. I'll be interviewing experts in marketing, communications, negotiation, motivation, success, health, nutrition, exercise, and a multitude of other topics.

Why you need to be paranoid!

Hi Everyone,

This may prove to be the single most important article you ever read for the rest of your life...so listen up and listen good!

I just finished re-reading one of my favorite books called...What Would Machiavelli Do? "The Ends Justify The Meanness."

In this little gem of a book...there's an absolutely phenomenal chapter called “He would be, for the most part, a paranoid freak.”

It starts out with a quote from Intel’s Chairman, Andy Grove, stating --- “I attribute Intel’s ability to sustain success to being constantly on the alert for threats, either technological or competitive in nature. The word paranoia is meant to suggest that attitude, an attitude that constantly looks over the horizon for threats to your success.”

Re-read that a few times until it really sinks in! Now re-read it again!

What it says is that in business…managed paranoia is a serious strategy for success and for those below the “C” level…it’s a crucial survival tactic!

Sane paranoia is made up of…
- Mistrust of others. Beware of your so-called friends and supporters. They’re just as apt as your enemies to stomp all over you for that big promotion or get saved during a downsizing.
- Hatred of the enemy. Remember…they want you dead in the water. Fight with all you have!!!!!
- Organizing those around you to meet your needs. I’m not going to go into this as it should be obvious to you. There’s safety in psychologically managing the “little” people.

A true survivor does the following whether they admit it to you or not…
- Always have a group of henchman (or women for you politically correct people), sycophants, and other flatters to be their eyes and ears and do their dirty work.
- Cultivates the heart of a killer. I don’t mean they literally kill people. They’re just willing to stomp all over those pitiful few who do not serve their agenda. And stomp and stomp and stomp some more until your gone my friend!
- Tend to drink or have some other vices that take their mind off of their physically and mentally debilitating daily tasks.

I’m not trying to encourage you to be like Machiavelli or admit as to whether you're like him. I could honestly care less. Heck…who am I to judge you anyway. I have enough of my own issues.

All I’m trying to do is give you a dose reality as to how the real world works. If you work in a corporate setting…be careful and watch for the big bad wolf. I can assure you they’re lurking closer to you than you think.

I think I should trademark a "Got Paranoia?" t-shirt.

Remember my dear friends...Be paranoid! Love you all!

Until next time…
Peter

What questions are you asking yourself?

Hi Everyone,

Today's blog covers one of my favorite topics...the power of questions and life change.

I'm not talking about the questions people ask you - I'm talking about the questions you ask yourself on a daily basis.

The questions you ask yourself will reveal alot about what you get in your life. After all...no matter what question you ask yourself - you're mind will come up with an answer.

Most people ask themselves negative unproductive questions, such as "Why does this always happen to me?", "Why am I always sick?" or "Why am I always broke?" Focusing on these types of questions are sure to get you negative answers everytime!

Why not focus on asking yourself positive, reaffirming questions like "How can I get healthier?", "How can I lose weight starting today?" or "How can I earn more more money?"

How about starting the day with questions like...
- What am I happy about in my life right now?
- What am I most grateful for?
- What's good about my job or business?

After all, it takes the same amount of energy to ask a negative or positive question. Why not ask a productive question that will get you a better result?

Remember, the law of attraction - what you focus on with clear intent, will become your reality. If you focus on good health - you'll attract a healthier lifestyle - if you focus on bigger earnings - you'll attract the ways and means to a bigger income - if you focus on building healthier relationships - you'll attract people to have healthy relationships with.

Here's the reverse - if you're a poor earner, the chances are 100% that you focus on the lack of money. The law of attraction says that when you think of the lack of money with clear intent - that's what you get. You cannot avoid it - it's the law of the universal energy around you. If you're constantly sick - you focus on lack of health. This is the way it works folks. This is why people who truly have money rarely discuss it - they just go about their business with a prosperity mentality - not needing to try to impress anyone else or change the minds of naysayers. The rich tend to spend their time with other prosperity seekers - not the complainers. Oh sure - they may listen to naysayers a time or two - yet deep down they will do what it takes to ultimately avoid naysayers like the plague.

Remember the old saying about computers - "garbage in - garbage out." Your mind works the same way.

If this describes you, stop complaining, stop feeling sorry for yourself and get off your rear end and ask yourself productive questions that will get you the results you want. If you need answers to questions you do not know the answers to...get your butt over to the local library and get help. Stop making excuses...me and the rest of the world don't want to hear it!

If you want to learn more about the power of questions and/or how to experience dramatic lasting life changes, please pick up a copy of one of my favorite books called "Awaken the Giant Within" by Anthony Robbins. To order, click here...
http://www.amazon.com/Awaken-Giant-Within-Immediate-Emotional/dp/0671791540/sr=1-3/qid=1157385493/ref=pd_bbs_3/002-2345578-1700851?ie=UTF8&s=books

Now you have no excuses. In the words of NIKE...JUST DO IT!

Until next time...

Attention fellow communicators!!!!!!

Hi Everyone,

Here's a very valuable piece of advice from someone who made this mistake...

DO NOT USE A SMALL WEB HOSTING COMPANY TO PURCHASE YOUR DOMAIN NAME AND/OR HOST YOUR INTERNET SITE!

Here's what can happen to you...
1. The reseller drops dead! What are you going to do to get your files and domain back in a timely fashion?
2. The reseller/provider gets disgruntled with you because you want to move to another provider or for some other silly reason. They can and more than likely will shut down your service and create an issue with you re-routing your domain and name servers. This can take days. Bottom line...this happened to me!
3. Domain re-sellers name themselves as the administrative, billing, and technical contact on your account - which in essence makes them the registered entity for your domain! Even though you may have paid for use of your domain - according to the registrars - you're s**t out of luck my friend!

Here are some tips to avoid this mess...
1. Purchase your domain through a reputable company like IPower www.ipower.com or www.register.com.
2. Always name yourself as the billing, administrative, and technical contact for your domain! Do not put anyone else on your account. This is what ultimately saved my butt!
3. Get the passwords for your domain account so you can re-route your domain and change name servers at any time. This is HUGE!
4. Only purchase web hosting from a large company with great references!
5. Make sure your web hosting company has 24-hour customer/technical service providers! All the good ones offer "live chat" services! (None of this we're closed after 6pm BS.) The internet is open 24/7 - so should they! Period...end of story.

I know it's tempting to use a small provider to save a few bucks - and it's not worth it my friend. Web hosting has become very inexpensive and easy to get no matter how big or small your business. The guy sitting in his underwear, running a small web hosting company from his bedroom or co-locating his servers elsewhere has become passe'. This type of provider just doesn't cut it nowadays.

Take it from me as I just went through a similar issue. Spend the few dollars or so a month and get quality service.

My recommendation is to use the services of IPower at www.ipower.com for ALL your internet e-mail and website needs. I get NOTHING for recommending them. I'm just very impressed with all their services and can tell you first hand - this is a quality organization with tremendous customer service!

Also, as an aside...make sure to purchase your domain name as soon as possible! If your name is William Boone...do not hesitate to purchase williamboone.com. Anyone who's anyone will have their own website up in the next couple years. Do not risk someone else buying your name...get yours today by clicking here...
www.ipower.com.

Until next time...
Peter

Are you living your life's purpose?

Hi Everyone,

Do you ever feel stuck in a rut? Be honest with yourself.

You know what I'm talking about --- where you know you can do more with your life and just can't seem to get any momentum. This is actually pretty common - note I did not say "normal" - just "common!"

Much of this comes from external programming we receive from so-called friends, altruistic family members, and other knights in shining armor. You know the types. These people spend more time telling you what you cannot do and why you should take the easy route instead of trying new things and taking some chances.

Take it from me - these people are LOSERS plain and simple. I'll bet my last dollar that if you take a look at these so-called experts on everything, they've accomplished nothing with their lives. About all their good at is running off at the mouth.

If you have a passion...do something about it! Remember..."the journey of a thousand miles begins with the first step." You have no idea how much time you have left...GET ON WITH IT MY FRIEND! Don't die with your music unplayed.

If you think you're too poor to start a new business...I'll guarantee someone was poorer and made it work. If you think you're too old...I'll bet someone was much older than you that made it work. If you're out-of-shape...remember - there's probably someone more out-of-shape than you who has made it work. Bottom line...stop making excuses and get off your rear end. If you have a decent head on your shoulders, two arms, and two legs...you're way ahead of the game. I've heard a multitude of stories about functional illiterates who have become HUGE success stories.

Here's one about a personal friend of mine named Tom Harkin. I dined with him and Art Linkletter a few years ago and his story damn near moved me like no other. Art was in tears!

Read it at...
http://www.usdreams.com/Harken6061.html

Make a conscious effort to take that first step in your new journey and go to the following link...
http://www.abundance-and-happiness.com/life-purpose.html

I came across this passage and thought I'd share it with you.

Until next time...
Peter

PS...If you want to do a great exercise which may help you figure out your life's purpose. Take out a clean sheet of paper and write your obituary. Ask yourself...how you would like to be remembered. Complete the exercise and you may be surprised what you come up with.

Absolute stupidity!

Hi Everyone,

Here's an example of the media misleading people with their strategic ignorant communication...

The Midwest Islamic Center in Schaumburg, IL was recently vandalized in an overnight break-in. Donations were stolen, the front door was smashed, and an office was completely trashed. And to make matters worse, the vandal(s) even took the liberty of smearing blood all over the building. Pretty bad huh?

So last night I'm watching the news and a reporter goes through the entire story in all it's grotesque detail. At the end of the story, he says "investigators are trying to determine if this is a "hate" crime."

This begs the question --- when was the last time someone who liked you stole your money, vandalized your home/business, and then splattered their blood all over? Maybe the news reporter thinks this could possibly be a "like" crime. I do not have to be some highly-trained police investigator or a media mogul to figure out this is an absolute "hate" crime and should be treated as such.

Bottom line...always be extra critical of what anyone tells you...especially the media! Use common sense first and leave blind faith to the moonies, sunnies, and all the other crazy religious radicals.

Until next time...

One of Chicago's best kept secrets!

Hi Everyone,

If you're into muscle cars, classic cars, and TV/movie cars, visit the Volo Auto Museum in Volo, IL.

Not only can you see some of the most amazing cars...you can actually purchase them. They have most makes and models, as well as rare collectors cars. In fact, Joe Perry from Aerosmith recently purchased a rare Oldsmobile 442 here. Members of the rock group Metallica have also recently purchased cars here during their last concert tour. Celebrities visit here from all over the world.

The Volo Auto Museum even contains the largest collection of George Barris show cars...including one of the world famous original Batmobiles!

This is my favorite car and one day I'm going to own it. For more information on the Volo Auto Museum, go to...http://www.volocars.com

Are "they" really that smart?

Hi Everyone,

Has someone ever told you..."that's what they say." I'm sure you must have heard this hundreds of times.

Before you follow what "they" say --- consider who "they" really are. Are "they" the all-knowing or the smartest people in the world? Why do "they" never seem to have a name or affiliation? I'll tell you why. It's because "they" are a figment of the imagination of the person you're speaking with.

To prove my point...all you have to do is ask the person you're speaking with who "they" is? You'll get a moment of silence and/or a blank stare. Or better yet, you'll get an obviously stupid response.

I understand that we all want to look smart --- and it shouldn't be at the expense of someone who may need some real help. If you do not truly know the answer to someone's question...do the world a favor and keep quiet. Or do something productive and help them find a credible answer. Now that will make you look smart!

Next time someone says, "they say...", ignore everything they tell you. They have no idea what they're talking about.

And if you have a question about anything...consult a QUALIFIED person or reference to get an answer that will help you...not some uncredible babble.

If you need financial advice...seek out a qualified financial planner or accountant!
If you need medical advice...seek out a qualified physician!
If you need business advice...seek out qualified people who have successfully owned and operated a business!

You get the point!

There are qualified people all around you to help you with just about any issue or challenge you may be facing.

Start seeking out qualified people today by sending questions to...

How to become a public speaking impresario!

Hi Everyone,

People are constantly asking me for advice on making presentations, giving lectures, and speaking with effectiveness.

With that in mind...I'm going to answer a recent e-mail request by giving you the formula for giving an effective speech designed STRICTLY to give your audience information.

1. Prior to giving your presentation...make sure you're speaking to an audience that's interested. If they're not interested, you're wasting your time and theirs.

2. Make sure you fit your presentation to a pre-determined timeframe. If possible, speak no longer than an hour at a time. Every hour give a 20-minute break. Keep in mind that people need to have information spoon-fed to them. (Marathons are for runners and triathletes only.)

3. Make sure you're speech breaks up the information in segments or steps. For instance...The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People...you get the point. This is easy for an audience to follow.

4. Make sure to re-iterate your points to the audience in lingo they can understand. Ask your audience if they understand what you said. If not, go back and re-explain. Keep the jargon and the Harvard education in the trunk of your car. Talking over people's heads makes won't make you look smart. You'll look like an elitist ass!

5. Give real life examples of what you're talking about. Save the theoretical trash. If you cannot speak from experience...you should not be presenting the topic in the first place.

6. Use easy-to-read visual aids that support your topic.

7. Watch the audience's attitude. Make sure they're enjoying your presentation. An audience will give you plenty of clues if you're boring them to death. If so, either change your approach or wrap up the talk.

8. Stay on point and have a great time!

One of my favorite books on public speaking is Dale Carnegie's "The Quick & Easy Way to Effective Speaking."

You can get it at...

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0671724002/sr=1-1/qid=1155332770/ref=pd_bbs_1/103-7617561-1658212?ie=UTF8&s=books

Happy speaking!!!!!

Until next time...

A lesson in creativity or the world's most elaborate circus? Maybe both!

Hi Everyone,

If you want to see creativity at it's finest and a show guaranteed to leave you spellbound...check out a Cirque du Soleil show.

Last night my wife and I attended a show in Chicago called "Corteo."

Corteo, which means "cortege" in Italian, is a joyous procession, a festive parade imagined by a clown. The production brings together the passion of the actor with the grace and power of the acrobat to plunge the audience into a theatrical world of fun, comedy and spontaneity situated in a mysterious space between heaven and earth. The clown pictures his own funeral taking place in a carnival atmosphere, watched over by quietly caring angels. Juxtaposing the large with the small, the ridiculous with the tragic and the magic of perfection with the charm of imperfection, the show highlights the strength and fragility of the clown, as well as his wisdom and kindness, to illustrate the portion of humanity that is within each of us. The music, by turns lyrical and playful, carries Corteo through a timeless celebration in which illusion teases reality.

Is that creative or what? Who would have ever thought you could stage a successful show combining clowns and funerals? The live experience is nothing short of magnificent and will send your mind racing!

The Founder and Chief Executive Officer "Guy Laliberté" is a true rags to riches story. His creative ambitions have turned him from a street performer to multi-millionaire. His shows in Las Vegas bring in the highest percentage of entertainment revenue.

If you'd like to learn how to foster the same creative spark as the Cirque du Soleil, I encourage you to pick up a book called "The Spark." Here, former Cirque du Soleil Creative Content President Lyn Heward walks you through the creative process.

The book is available at...
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0385516517/sr=1-1/qid=1154999108/ref=pd_bbs_1/103-1389772-2916667?ie=UTF8&s=books

This is second show we've attended and plan on seeing our third, when we visit Las Vegas next year.
