Negative programming and luck!

If you feel anything in this blog is written about you personally - you are wasting your time, and please do not call or write me with your senseless accusations as they will fall on deaf ears. Get a life and stop wallowing in your love of blame & misery!

Now that that's out of the way ---

Hi Everyone,

I just finished reading reading Peter Ragnar's book The Awesome Science of Luck for the third time. It's thought-provoking to say the least. So much so, I'm writing this blog after a nearly one-year absence.

Today, I'm writing about what I believe is the reality of luck.

There are many people walking around with a "whoa is me" attitude. Blaming everyone and everything for their issues. Not taking personal responsibility for anything. Do you ever notice that everything that happens to them is everyone's fault but their own. Their blame list is endless.

When they get sick or they have a dirty car, they BLAME their kids. When they don't get the new job or promotion, they BLAME discrimination or favoritism. When they get fired, they BLAME a bad company or boss. (And usually the same boss they've worked with for years. Must have been awful!) When they fall down in the workplace, they BLAME their employer and sue them for millions of dollars. When they get heart disease, they BLAME the stress supposedly inflicted upon them by other people. (Has nothing to do with sugar or fast food of course.) When they're kids act up, they BLAME the kid's friends or those damn teacher's who have no control of their classroom. (Yes of course, your kid is being influenced by that one bad kid in the class. Yours is perfect!)

The list goes on and on.

Oh...let's throw in one more --- How about when someone is overweight and blaming stress, their kids, or the fact they just have no time to exercise. Oh and let's not forget, they were brought up by fat parents. People in their 20s, 30, 40s, 50s and older still use this sorry, lame excuse. Mom and dad caused all my issues --- puhleez! And this is the same person who can tell you what's going on with American Idol, Survivor or that other intellectually-stimulating program Dancing With The Stars! Maybe it's time to get off the couch and move around! Perhaps clean you house occasionally and you'll burn some calories. The fad diet won't do Jack! :-)

Now I understand that everyone wallows in negativity from time to time. Anyone can have a lapse every now and then. Sometimes the ball just doesn't bounce their way. It happens. I get it. This blog is about the ones who are chronic complainers, whiners, pissers and moaners. Unfortunately, this is one HUGE group that is destroying our society.

I always wondered how it is that this group of whiners and moaners, who then blame the world for everything, manage to co-exist in a world where many people are succeeding and living their dreams --- while taking responsibility for the whole kit and caboodle. (You know --- the supposedly lucky ones!)

From the best I can see, with over 20 years working with people in the self-help world, we've become an oversensitive society filled with people who are uneducated, lazy, drugged and liquored up, and always walking around with their hand out.

The two questions are...

1. How did they get that way?

2. What can they do about it? (Ah -- my favorite part of this whole blog!)

Let's start with number one. How did they get that way?

While there are some people that are just plain lazy and unproductive --- I do not believe these are the main reasons. In my work with thousands of people, I have found one thing to be more people's nemesis than anything (and they don't even realize it) --- NEGATIVE PROGRAMMING!

All around us are people telling us that we cannot do things.

Let's explore some of these culprits...

The media! This includes news shows, books, magazines, websites, cable - all of it. You may not know it, but they are giving you viewpoints and perspectives very strategically! Let me give you a great example you may not know about. Did you know that critics are told how to rate movies? The media owns the movie studios. And depending on which media you're tuned into, they will recommend the movie their parent company produced. AND they'll give a thumbs down to a movie from another studio! Just try to find a negative story about Rupert Murdoch on FOX or Disney on ABC. It won't happen --- they own the stations. You are being manipulated.

Did you ever wonder why small kids are as out of control as they are? Today's video games promote violence and abuse. Kids are being manipulated to be violent. And it shows in the schools. Why is it that unlike years ago, kids now enter schools in metal detectors? Why are more kids than ever carrying guns and knives? Why is violence in school worse than ever? Do you think this is by accident? I just watched a little kid innocently access two video games online recently. One showed images of a person being cut in half and one allowed him to shoot arrows through someone's head. You see the whole bloody mess. At least this kid was caught and told "no" by his dad! How many go unsupervised? Hmmmmmm.

Isn't it interesting how the media portrays family life on popular TV shows? Find one popular show that portrays families in a positive light. Can you name one? And how many others are programming you to think of the family unit as a disrespectful joke or that fathers are blundering fools? Here are a few examples: Wifeswap, Family Guy, Married With Children, South Park, or any soap opera!

Here are some other culprits which I'm going to lump together ---

Friends, family, lovers, and co-workers! If you think the majority of these people generally give a rat's rear about you, think again! These are the worst when it comes to negative programming. They hide under the guise of CARING or CONCERNED! They are far from it. How many times have people close to you told you that you should not start a business? How many have told you that you should not make a late career change? How many have talked you out of going back to school or going to college? Don't do, don't do that! Blah, blah, blah!

Heck, if I listened to all the supposedly well-meaning family and friends, I would never have accomplished much of anything. I was told never to leave UPS. Never to run marathons. Not to workout so hard. Not to skydive, buy sports cars, run around with wild women, write books, or do anything else. Who the hell cares what these people think? This is your life! Let them wallow in the abyss of mediocrity!

The punch line is that most of these people have nothing, done nothing and are nothing. AND they want you to do the same. Yes there are some exceptions --- but not many. The truth is that most people do NOT want you to be any more successful than they are. And most are not successful by any stretch! This is a fact of life --- deal with it.

I recently heard a story about someone whose parents would not pay for their college unless they took the degree program the parent's requested. This is after telling the student they can take what they want. I think it is a parent's prerogative to decide to pay for a degree - I get that and support that 100%. But don't mess with your kid's head for God's sake. You never know what your kid may end up doing!

This is negative programming at its worst. Personally, I've gotten to the point where I just do things and tell people about it later if necessary. I also tend to walk away from non-inspiring conversations --- which is 99% of them. And people wonder why I prefer the kid's table! :-)

The drug and pharmaceutical companies! Here lies the worse of the worse when it comes to caring about your health and well-being. You cannot trust them at all! They want you drugged. They want you on medication because it's good for profits. They knowingly release drugs with toxic side effects and feed them to people like food. Anyone on prescription pharmaceutical drugs is an instant drug addict. This is just a fact. This is why people on these drugs cannot just stop taking them at will. No, no, no! The drug dealing doctor will never let you do that because they know what they've done to you.

People on psychiatric drugs are in the worst shape of all. Your brain is no longer your own. Your body chemistry is no longer natural. This is why most people on these drugs sleep their life away.

Which leads me to ---

Psychiatrists! Or should I say --- modern day drug dealers. Let's bring a person in with some issues, tell them they have a disease, and put them on drugs for the rest of their life. The heck with the cause of the issue --- drug them so they never think about it. Hell --- how is this different from someone taking cocaine or smoking marijuana to ease their pain? Why not just take a hammer to your head? You become just as brain-dead on drugs anyway.

And these modern day drug dealers are doing this to our nations youth with drugs like Prozac and Ritalin. Anyone prescribing drugs to young developing minds, you should be put in jail. (By the way, look up the suicide rate of people seeing shrinks. The numbers are staggering.)

And this leads me to some other culprits for negative programming ---

Teachers and guidance counselors! I know there are exceptions. No question. My experience with these people has always been bad to questionable. Especially when I was at Maine South High School in Park Ridge, IL. What a sorry bunch of counselors. I remember one counselor named (yes, I'll name him) William Zybell. What a piece of work. This annoyance had the nerve to tell me that the best I can do is a career in the Army at the lowest level. Nothing against anyone in the Army --- you soldiers are incredible. But if you would have taken 15 minutes to talk to me, you know I was not Army material. I was just very creative, social and was not learning well from the teachers I was assigned. I had many teachers who may have had knowledge - but not many had a clue how to teach an eclectic bunch of students. If I was so bad, why did I get straight "A"s in college after a less than average high school career? You do the math - no pun intended.

The church and Bible! Yikes to anyone buying into this overblown fairytale. About all that's worth believing is that something or someone start it all. After that...you may as well read a Disney fairy tale. It has as much value as the Bible. If the Church was so powerful and all-mighty, then why do we have more deaths tied into organized religions than anything else? Holy wars? Puhleez! How about the Catholic priests? Many are proven disgraceful. I can assure you that nothing holy is going on in your local church.

Heck...your marriages are not even sanctioned by the church. The federal government even took away all their power. For those of you "marrieds" - remember the line, "By the power of the state, I know pronounce you..." Not by the power of the church. Why? There is no power outside of what you give it.

I'd love to meet one religious person who lives by the Bible anyway. They equate to the broke person running around giving financial advice.

And this is just a small list!

Now here I sit and many call me "lucky."

Some say I'm lucky for good health. Not really. I've had my share of issues. It's not lucky that I eat fairly well. Watch my weight and workout several times a week.

Some say I'm lucky for my career. Not really. To get to be one of the most popular promoters in the self-help industry, I've worked for years on my craft; promoting authors for 20 years. I've written tens of thousands of pages of proven sales copy over the past 20 years. I've done everything I had to do to make the relationships I have in my industry. I wasn't sitting home saying "whoa is me" in the early days! I've read every marketing book and taken classes to further my craft. Lucky? Yeah right.

Some say I'm lucky to have books published. Oh yes...I must have read silly books like The Secret and wished for all my books and audio programs to be produced. Oh yes, I read The Secret, and all of a sudden, all my work magically appeared just ready for publishing. Get a life my friend.

Some say I'm lucky for not ever having financial problems. Not really. I diligent about earning money and very careful how I spend it. That's not luck - that's being wise. I also do not loan money to anyone. Never have, never will - especially family and relatives. Not only will you never see it again; chances are, that will mark the end of the relationship. Not to mention, giving a broke person money does nothing but perpetuate the problem. What they need to do is learn to earn more and spend less. Not exactly rocket science. (But you can't do it and watch American Idol at the same time!)

And as far as all this Law of Attraction non-sense. Here's the hard fact ----

Wishing for something for nothing is a waste of time. You need to do your part - whatever that is for you. I do not remember wishing for anything and having it come true without working hard and smart!

Peter Ragnar makes an interesting comment in his book...

"What you want wants you."

I agree; we'll sort of. It should read ---

"What you want, will come to you, when you meet it halfway."

So let's get to number two and wrap this blog up ---

2. What can they do about it?

To reverse negative programming, here are some PROVEN, RESULTS-ORIENTED suggestions ---

Turn off the TV and stop listening to the media! (The media are just plain manipulators. AND if your life is in shambles, you do not have the time to waste watching TV or cable. Get to work!)

Tune out supposed CARING, CONCERNED friends, family members and co-workers! (If anyone says something negative to you, run the other way. These people are life vampires. They suck the very life out of you. Also, take a look at what they're accomplishing and you'll quickly find they are not speaking from any level of credibility anyway. Case closed on them.)

Ignore the drug ads and stay away from prescription pharmaceuticals. These are legalized poisons. They do nothing but make you seem healthier for a very short time. Look at the side effects. You are killing yourself and not thinking with a sound mind.

Never see a psychiatrist! This is a legalized drug dealer and pill pusher. Enough said.

Take the Church for what it is --- a nice place to meet people and network. The Bible is an unproven, highly-profitable fairytale. If there's any truth to it - prove it. It's all programming.

Teachers and guidance counselors! Most teachers teach as a result of not being able to do. There are many good teachers out there. There are also some horrific ones. A typical example for our purposes is the business teacher who never owned a business. Also, take the advice of guidance counselors with a grain of salt. They are not the end-all, be-all when it comes to accomplishment or what someone is capable of.

Some other quick thoughts when it comes to reversing negative programming to get lucky ---

If one of your staff members are negative --- FIRE them! (They are a living Cancer in your company.)

- If people come into your home and are not positive, ask them to leave right away.

- If people call you on the phone and treat you poorly, hang up the phone. (Don't let others problems be your own.)

- Take criticism with a grain of salt and consider the source. (Happy, well-adjusted people with your bet interests at heart, will not criticize you. They will speak to you in a caring, genuine way.)

- When people tell you something negative about someone else, understand they are stirring the pot and trying to get a reaction out of you. (I only judge people on how they treat me. Not someone else's biased opinion. Always check the facts - they rarely line up when someone has a misguided agenda.)

- Stop whining and get to work on your dreams and goals. (If you're life is not working - it's because you are not working. Stop blaming everyone else)

- Please do not make your kids where helmets when bike riding or schedule play dates! (Kids are becoming pansies. Toughen them up to face life. Also, let kids learn to schedule their own time away from the video games, with other kids. Play dates are a silly concept. Kids need to learn to do things for themselves, like they used to before mom and dad got into their business.)

And finally...

- Stop telling the world about your problems. (In reality, people do not care and get sick of listening to you anyway. Talking about your problems, perpetuates them. Solve them! You are negatively programming yourself)

Me, I'm not perfect. But I do notice something...

""THE SMARTER AND HARDER I WORK, THE LUCKIER I SEEM TO GET!"

Personal development programs I recommend and other fun thoughts on success...

Hi Everyone,

I'm constantly asked --- "What are your favorite personal development programs?"

Before writing this blog, I really had to give it some thought as my collection is well into the hundreds.

Admittedly...most aren't worth the .05 cent CD they're burned into. Still there are some gems.

Obviously, there are programs on any number of topics, but for the sake of sanity, I'll stay in the motivational realm.

Here goes (I'll also link, so you can get them if your interested)...

1. The Art of Exceptional Living by Jim Rohn

I have listened to this program at least twice a year or more since 1992. This is the most down-to-earth program on living a terrific lifestyle and making decisions using your common sense.

2. Think Like a Billionaire by Martin Fridson

This is a very thought provoking program for those who think BIG in business. Get an inside glimpse of just how different billionaires think from the rest of us.

3. How to Talk to Anyone, Anytime, Anywhere by Larry King

If you want to learn how to talk to your boss, coworkers, friends or family members --- this is a must-have for communication excellence!

4. Leadership Mastery Course by Dale Carnegie

Another gem! If you want to develop better leadership skills, buy this right way and listen to it a minimum of three times. You will see yourself and others in a whole new light. A must for executives and managers!

5. How to Master Your Time by Brian Tracy

This program will show you how to prioritize tasks so you work on "A" priorities first. All the rest can wait. You will become a taskmaster instantly!

6. The Science of Personal Achievement by Napoleon Hill

This is a classic. This is Napoleon Hill, in his own voice, teaching the basics of "Think and Grow Rich." You will learn the 17 success principles common to some of the world's wealthiest people.

7. Start Here by Earl Nightingale

This program contains Earl's classics. Earl is the reason I got into the self-help business. He passed before I started working for Nightingale-Conant. I was there for eight glorious years!

8. Success Through a Positive Mental Attitude by Napoleon Hill and W. Clement Stone

This is the only program I know of that actually has recordings of W. Clement Stone expounding his success philosophies. You may not know it, but at the time he recorded this program, he was one of the world's wealthiest people. This is a must-have!

9. Success Is Your Own Damn Fault by Larry Winget

They don't call Larry "The Pitbull of Self Development" for nothing. Larry will take away your excuses with his harsh sense of humor and bottom line success strategies. I love listening to Larry and so will you.

10. See You At The Top by Zig Ziglar

This is Zig's best! Just get it! No need for explanation.

Here are some other thoughts on success...

Don't gossip about others!
Stop waiting to do things until the time is perfect or waiting until tomorrow!
If you take prescription psychological drugs - you are doomed - you are not thinking correctly! (Like it or not, you are slowly becoming a drug addict. Deal with your issues rationally.)
Lay off the junk food!
If you're fat, do something about it!
Throw away the diet books and pills and get off your behind and work off those calories!
Always be your spouses best advertisement! (Thanks to the minster who taught me this.)
Never put people down or judge people based on your standards!
Stay away from negative people! Even friends and family if need be!
Keep your car clean - inside AND OUT!
Wear good quality clothes always!
Treat your kids like adults - not babies!
Test your bodies alkaline balance often!
Make your bosses job easier!
Go the extra mile!
Join a club or fraternity of like-minded people!
Reward yourself whenever you accomplish something!
Stop thinking anyone is a guru or expert - they're not!
Think for yourself!
Listen to good books on CD or MP3 in your car!
Think BIG!
Be in the moment!
Forget your mistakes and move on!
Do not blame your parents for your issues! Grow up!
Treat your spouse with respect and dignity!
Don't ever say something you may regret!
If you're angry with someone, do not speak to them at all for 24 hours!
Take daily walks and soothe your mind!
When you make a mistake, remember "This Too Shall Come to Pass!"

And most importantly...

Live life as if it is your last day because it just may be!

What it takes to be number one!

Hi Everyone,

I love the famous "What It Takes To Be Number One Speech" by Vince Lombardi.

"Winning is not a sometime thing; it's an all the time thing. You don't win once in a while; you don't do things right once in a while; you do them right all the time. Winning is a habit. Unfortunately, so is losing.

There is no room for second place. There is only one place in my game, and that's first place. I have finished second twice in my time at Green Bay, and I don't ever want to finish second again. There is a second place bowl game, but it's for losers. It is, and always has been, an American zeal to be first in anything we do, and to win, and to win, and to win.

Every time a football player goes to ply his trade he's got to play from the ground up - from the soles of his feet right up to his head. Every inch of him has to play. Some guys play with their heads. That's OK. You've got to be smart to be number one in any business. But more importantly, you've got to play with your heart, with every fiber of your body. If you're lucky enough to find a guy with a lot of head and a lot of heart, he's never going to come off the field second.

Running a football team is no different than any other kind of organization - an army, a political party or a business. The principles are the same. The object is to win - to beat the other guy. Maybe that sounds hard or cruel. I don't think it is.

It is a reality of life that men are competitive and the most competitive games draw the most competitive men. That's why they are there - to compete. The object is to win fairly, squarely, by the rules, but to win.

And in truth, I've never known a man worth his salt who in the long run, deep down in his heart, didn't appreciate the grind, the discipline. There is something in good men that really yearns for discipline and the harsh reality of head to head combat.

I don't say these things because I believe in the "brute" nature of man or that men must be brutalized to be combative. I believe in God, and I believe in human decency. But I firmly believe that any man's finest hour - his greatest fulfillment to all he holds dear - is the moment when he has worked his heart out in a good cause and lies exhausted on the field of battle - victorious."

Please let this speech inspire you to "keep on keeping on" no matter what you face in 2010!

How to be powerful in the face of YOUR fears!

Hi Everyone,

It has been a busy Thanksgiving Day so far.

One of the highlights of the day was listening to a program in my car called...

The Art of Fearbusting by an old friend - Dr. Susan Jeffers.

One of the reasons I listen to this program over and over is to remind myself that I cannot live in fear or make decisions out of fear. Fear is an emotion and emotions cloud judgment. If you do not have this CD - click on the link above and get it ASAP!

Susan is one of two people I know who truly lives a life where fear does not rule her life. My boss and good friend, marketing legend Kevin Trudeau is the other. We'll save that for another post.

I just came across an article by Susan Jeffers that I want to share with you called...

Here is one of my favorite passages from Susan's article...

Remember the three miracle words: I’ll handle it. At the bottom of every one of your fears is that you won’t be able to handle what life brings you. But if you knew that you could handle anything that came your way, you’d have nothing to fear. Tell yourself I’ll handle it a hundred times a day. Write it on a note and tape it to your mirror. Imprint it on your subconscious. It will free you from the need to constantly agonize over the “what ifs” and the need to control the behavior of everyone around you.

Susan is brilliant and one of the only authors who is the real deal!

I'm off now to Wildfire restaurant in Chicago to celebrate Thanksgiving with a great friend and then off to my in-laws to wrap up the night.

It may sound cliche but I truly believe that the only thing to fear is fear itself.

Hopefully this post helped someone out there. :-)

Hi Everyone,

I found this really profound poem online and wanted to share it with you during these testing times.

It's called...

Don't Quit

When things go wrong as they sometimes will,
When the road you're trudging seems all uphill,
When funds are low and the debts are high,
And you want to smile, but you have to sigh.
When care is pressing you down a bit.
Rest, if you must, but don't you quit.
Life is queer with its twists and turns
As every one of us sometimes learns.
And many a failure turns about
When he might have won had he stuck it out:
Don't give up though the pace seems slow -
You may succeed with another blow.
Success is failure turned inside out -
The silver tint of the clouds of doubt.

Excellent passage huh?

I remember a time not too long ago when I was concerned about something not turning out as planned. That morning for know apparent reason, I flipped on cable and there was the legendary Joel Osteen - who I'd never seen before. (I'm not religious, but thought --- why not? There was some reason I turned on the station at that time and I decided to follow through on my hunch.)

He made the comment that you never know what the next 72 hours will bring and you have to stick to your guns.

Somehow I knew that message was for me. The event I was concerned about worked out in just under 72 hours. Thanks Joel! :-)

Bottom line -----

Never quit!

Water - the #1 wonder of the HEALTH world!

Hi Everyone,

As you may know, I'm a health and fitness fanatic.

And one of my favorite subjects is the effect of water on the body. There is alarming research the everyone needs to know about water and the untold health benefits.

Everything you need to know is at one of my favorite websites "Water Cure."

The site contains the work of water researcher F. Batmanghelidj, M.D.

Dr. F. Batmaghelidj wrote his first self-help book “Your Body’s Many Cries for Water” in 1992, in which he stated that a dry mouth is not a reliable indicator of dehydration. The body signals its water shortage by producing pain. Dehydration actually produces pain and many degenerative diseases, including asthma, arthritis, hypertension, angina, adult-onset diabetes, lupus and multiple sclerosis. Dr. B’s message to the world is, “You are not sick, you are thirsty. Don’t treat thirst with medication.”

Here are a couple questions and answers that are mind-boggling...

1. WHAT SHOULD WE DRINK? WHAT SHOULDN’T WE DRINK?

We are designed to drink pure, natural water.

- Avoid sodas/soft drinks to provide your fluid needs. The high sugar content and artificial flavors in soft drinks are harmful to your health.

- Tea, coffee, soft drinks contain water, but the diuretics contained in these caffineated beverages flush water out of your body. Don’t count on them to replenish fluid loss.

- It is OK to drink them occasionally, but if you drink them constantly and don’t drink enough pure natural water, then you are severely compromising your long-term health.

- Natural pure water is the best choice. If you are committed to a healthy lifestyle and long-term health, make water a habit and a priority in your life.

2. CAN WE DRINK TOO MUCH WATER?

During intense exercise the kidneys cannot excrete excess water. The extra water moves into the cells, including brain cells. The result can be fatal. For that reason, athletes should estimate how much they should drink by weighing themselves before and after long training runs to see how much they lose, and thus how much water and salt they should replace.

The studies that found 13% of the runners tested drank too much water, resulting in abnormally low blood sodium levels. The low sodium levels made many of these people very sick, and close to the point of death. The importance lesson here is to balance your water intake with your sodium intake.

And here's one more bonus question...

3. WHAT ABOUT FILTER AND FILTERED WATER?

It is always wise to get a filter if you are not sure how safe your tap water is.

There are many water filter products on the market at many different prices. To shop for a good filter, you need to know what a filter factually reduces, or removes, and what it costs. Ideally, you want water that has been filtered via a reverse osmosis process that removes chemicals, pesticides, heavy metals, chlorine, fluoride, bacteria, and viruses.

How to stop worrying and start living

One of the things I have learned to conquer is fear and worry.

Before you declare me a fraud, hear me out...

I'm not saying that I do not have monetary fears. We all do. The difference is that I quickly get over them before they consume too much time, emotion, money, effort and good health.

You may or may not know I'm a huge fan of Dale Carnegie - and I love his book (which I read at least once a year) called How To Stop Worrying and Start Living.

If you suffer from fear and worry - you NEED to read this book ASAP!

Here are PHENOMENAL excerpts fro the book ---

Fundamental facts you should know about worry

1. If you want to avoid worry, do what Sir William Osler did: Live in "day-tight compartments." Don't stew about the futures. Just live each day u ntil bedtime.

2. The next time Trouble--with a Capital T--backs you up in a corner, try the magic formula of Willis H. Carrier:

- Ask yourself, "What is the worst that can possibly happen if I can't solve my problem?
- Prepare yourself mentally to accept the worst--if necessary.
- Then calmly try to improve upon the worst--which you have already mentally agreed to accept.
- Remind yourself of the exorbitant price you can pay for worry in terms of your health. "Those who do not know how to fight worry die young."

Basic techniques in analyzing worry

1. Get the facts. Remember that Dean Hawkes of Columbia University said that "half the worry in the world is caused by people trying to make decisions before they have sufficient knowledge on which to base a decision."

2. After carefully weighing all the facts, come to a decision.

3. Once a decision is carefully reached, act! Get busy carrying out your decision--and dismiss all anxiety about the outcome.

4. When you, or any of your associates, are tempted to worry about a problem, write out and answer the following questions:

- What is the problem?
- What is the cause of the problem?
- What are all possible solutions?
- What is the best solution?

How to break the worry habit before it breaks you

1. Crowd worry out of your mind by keeping busy. Plenty of action is one of the best therapies ever devised for curing "wibber gibbers."

2. Don't fuss about trifles. Don't permit little things--the mere termites of life--to ruin your happiness.

3. Use the law of averages to outlaw your worries. Ask yourself: "What are the odds against this thing's happening at all?"

4. Co-operate with the inevitable. If you know a circumstance is beyond your power to change or revise, say to yourself: "It is so; it cannot be otherwise."

5. Put a "stop-less" order on your worries. Decide just how much anxiety a thing may be worth--and refuse to give it anymore.

6. Let the past bury its dead. Don't saw sawdust.

Seven ways to cultivate a mental attitude that will bring you peace and happiness

1. Let's fill our minds with thoughts of peace, courage, health, and hope, for "our life is what our thoughts make it."

2. Let's never try to get even with our enemies, because if we do we will hurt ourselves far more than we hurt them. Let's do as General Eisenhower does: let's never waste a minute thinking about people we don't like.

3. Instead of worrying about ingratitude, let's expect it. Let's remember that Jesus healed ten lepers in one day--and only one thanked Him. Why should we expect more gratitude than Jesus got? Let's remember that the only way to find happiness is not to expect gratitude--but to give for the joy of giving. Let's remember that gratitude is a "cultivated" trait; so if we want our children to be grateful, we must train them to be grateful.

4. Count your blessings--not your troubles!

5. Let's not imitate others. Let's find ourselves and be ourselves, for "envy is ignorance" and "imitation is suicide."

6. When fate hands us a lemon, let's try to make a lemonade.
7. Let's forget our own unhappiness--by trying to create a little happiness for others. "When you are good to others, you are best to yourself."

The perfect way to conquer worry

1. Prayer

How to keep from worrying about criticism

1. Unjust criticism is often a disguised compliment. It often means that you have aroused jealousy and envy. Remember that no one ever kicks a dead dog.

2. Do the very best you can; and then put up your old umbrella and keep the rain of criticism from running down the back of your neck.

3. Let's keep a record of the fool things we have done and criticize ourselves. Since we can't hope to be perfect, let's do what E.H. Little did: let's ask for unbiased, helpful, constructive criticism.

Six ways to prevent fatigue and worry and keep your energy and spirits high

1. Rest before you get tired.

2. Learn to relax at your work.

3. Learn to relax at home.

4. Apply these four good workings habits:

- Clear your desk of all papers except those relating to the immediate problem at hand.
- Do things in the order of their importance.
- When you face a problem, solve it then and there if you have the facts to make a decision.
- Learn to organize, deputize, and supervise.

5. To prevent worry and fatigue, put enthusiasm into your work.

6. Remember, no one was ever killed by lack of sleep. It is worrying about insomnia that does the damage--not the insomnia.

It’s easier to be stupid

Holy cow it's been a while since I've blogged on here. Too much time on my Facebook page I guess.

I found a GREAT blog recently from the legendary "Pitbull of Self-Development" himself - Sir Larry Winget.

It's called...

"It's Easier To Be Stupid!"

That’s right. It’s easier to be stupid than it is be smart.

It is easier to listen to the political pundits and television news anchors and trust their words completely than it is to study, read, and search to discover the truth about a political issue or to actually read one of the bills or proposals you are so vehemently for or against.

It is easier to believe Rush or O’Reilly or Hannity or Olberman or Rachel or Beck or even Larry Winget than it is to actually do a little fact checking of your very own. It’s work to find the truth out about any issue, so it’s easier to just accept what you hear as fact.

It is easier to listen to the preachers and believe every word they say from their pulpit than it is to read the book yourself, or maybe lots of books and search for your own insight and develop your beliefs based on your own experiences.

It’s easier to just toe the party line because you are registered Democrat or Republican than it is to ask whether the party line makes sense or not.

It’s easier to believe your doctor when he tells you that you should take a pill rather than to do some research or get a second opinion to find out if he knows what he is talking about or whether he is padding his pocket and those of the pharmaceutical companies.

It’s easier to buy a pill or have surgery to lose the pounds than it is to start eating right and doing some exercise.

It’s easier to steal a car than it is to get a job, earn money, build credit and buy a car.

It’s easy to charge something than it is to pay cash.

It’s easier to blame than to take responsibility.

Bottom line it’s just easier to be stupid and do stupid things.

Smart people take responsibility for their lives. They require a lot from themselves and from others. Smart people work hard and pay their bills. Smart people are good parents. Smart people are concerned about their health and the health of their family.

The argument from many is going to be that there are many smart people who aren’t good parents. Or that there are smart people who don’t work hard or pay their bills. Or that there are plenty of smart people who are obese. You can’t sell me on that argument. These people all might be intelligent, but they aren’t smart, they are stupid.

Being smart requires that you do the right thing or at least work at trying to do the right thing.

We are a society who loves to brag about how smart we are. But are we? It doesn’t appear so on many fronts. Being smart requires that we be responsible and that simply is not the case for most people. We require almost nothing of ourselves that involves any real work, effort or sacrifice.

The Bible says “to whom much is given, much is required.” And each of us has been given a lot.

We have been given a great planet to live on yet we stupidly spend most of our day destroying it. After all, it’s work to conserve. It requires sacrifice. Not big sacrifices for sure, but even a small sacrifice requires more of us than no sacrifice. “Give up my gas guzzler? No way!” “Put in energy conserving light bulbs? They cost a dollar more!” “Turn up my thermostat two degrees? What? I’ve earned the right to be as cool as I want to be!”

We have been given a job yet few people do more than what is minimally required of them in order to keep their job and draw their check. After all, giving your best requires integrity and it easier to live without integrity than with it.

We have been given great kids yet we don’t communicate with them, spend much time with them or set good examples for them.

We are given great civil liberties yet few people vote or become involved.

Most of us were given health yet we ate our way, smoked our way and lazyed our way out of that great gift.

We have been given the opportunity to accomplish great things yet we squander that opportunity by sitting on our ass and watching mindless drivel on the television.

We have been given all the keys to success, happiness and prosperity but only a few will ever bother to read the books that hold those keys.

Instead, we take the easy way out. The stupid way out. Because anything else would require effort and few are willing to put in the effort to change their lives or their circumstances.

Instead, they would rather just complain about the hand they have been dealt and their lot in life. They would rather bitch about Obama or Bush or the stupidity of others than own up to their own laziness and stupidity. They would rather blame the economy or Wall Street rather than own up to the fact that they overspent and never saved. They would rather blame their boss than own up to the fact that they called in sick when they weren’t and took longer breaks than allowed and gave 75% effort instead of 100%. They would rather blame the school system than realize that they never spent any time with their kids making sure they could add or read or spell. They would rather blame the government for squandering their tax dollars than admit that they cheated on their own income taxes.

Being given much really does mean that much is required of you.

It means that if you have money, you are required to do the right thing with your money including saving, investing, spending and being charitable.

It means that if you have kids you are required to talk to them, spend time with them, teach them and set a good example for them.

It means that if you have a job you are required to give it your best for no other reason than you were hired to do so.

It also means that if you are smart, you are required to use your smarts in ways that serve yourself, your family and others in responsible ways. And that requires work. That’s why it’s easier to be stupid – it doesn’t really require any work.

I will readily admit that I often do take the easy way out myself. I find it easier to NOT do something than it is to do something. I try not to get caught in that trap often and I try not to let it spread like a cancer into all areas of my life. I try to recognize it quickly, correct it even quicker and get back on track immediately. But it still happens and I still offer myself excuses for it. Bottom line: There is no excuse. Doing the easy thing is rarely about doing the right thing. If the wind is at your back, you are going the wrong direction.

What I'm sitting reading right now and a glimpse of my favorite magazines!

Hi Everyone,

I'm sitting in my personal office, waiting for my wife to get home, and reading a great book that I cannot recommend enough called My Remarkable Journey by Larry King.

You can get it here!

The story is not only inspiration but educational and informative.

As someone who often does interviews about my books and CD programs, the book proves its worth over and over by teaching me the mindset of someone who is trying to get in my head and elicit the best information from me.

And as someone who also interviews many bestselling authors and celebrities, I was amazed to find out that Larry King does not prepare one question prior to an interview. He comes out of the gate just like his audience - curious at a fundamental level.

The things I'm learning are amazing to say the least. If you're looking for a great book and enjoy biographies - buy it today! Or check it out at your local library like I did!

Who do you associate with and where are they leading you?

Hi Everyone,

Jim Rohn is my favorite business philosopher bar none.

After working in the self-help industry for more than 20 years for Nightingale-Conant and after that - working with most of the biggest self-help authors on the planet, I can say from authority, that Jim Rohn is the real deal.

When he used to come to Nightingale-Conant, I spent every minute I could with him. I always learned so much.

One of the principles, I learned from Jim was about the importance of who I associate with. Friends, family, everyone - and their impact on me. I learned quickly that if I was to grow, i had to be around others doing the same.

I want to share part 1, of a two-part article of Jim's called...

Evaluating Your Associations (Part I)
by Jim Rohn

If you were to evaluate the major influences in your life that have shaped the kind of person you are, this has to be high on the list: the people and thoughts you choose to allow into your life.

Mr. Shoaff gave me a very important warning in those early days that I would like to share with you. He said, "Never underestimate the power of influence." Indeed, the influence of those around us is so powerful! Many times we don't even realize we're being strongly affected because influences generally develop over an extended period of time.

Peer pressure is an especially powerful force because it is so subtle. If you're around people who spend all they make, chances are excellent that you'll spend all you make. If you are around people who go to more ball games than concerts, chances are excellent that you'll do the same thing.

If you are around people who don't read, chances are excellent that you won't read. People can keep nudging us off course a little at a time until finally, we find ourselves asking, "How did I get here?" Those subtle influences need to be studied carefully if we really want our lives to turn out the way we've planned.

With regard to this important point, let me give you three key questions to ask yourself. They may help you to make better analysis of your current associations.

Here is the first question: "Who am I around?" Make a mental note of the people with whom you most often associate. You've got to evaluate everybody who is able to influence you in any way.

The second question is: "What are these associations doing to me?" That's a major question to ask. What have they got me doing? What have they got me listening to? What have they got me reading? Where have they got me going?

What do they have me thinking? How have they got me talking? How have they got me feeling? What have they got me saying? You've got to make a serious study of how others are influencing you, both negatively and positively.

Here's a final question: "Is that okay?" Maybe everyone you associate with has been a positive, energizing influence. Then again, maybe there are some bad apples in the bunch.

All I'm suggesting here is that you take a close and objective look. Everything is worth a second look, especially the power of influence. Both will take you somewhere, but only one will take you in the direction you need to go.

It's easy to just dismiss the things that influence our lives. One man say's, "I live here, but I don't think it matters. I'm around these people, but I don't think it hurts." I would take another look at that. Remember, everything matters! Sure, some things matter more than others, but everything amounts to something.

You've got to keep checking to find out whether your associations are tipping the scales toward the positive or toward the negative. Ignorance is never the best policy. Finding out is the best policy.

Perhaps you've heard the story of the little bird. He had his wing over his eye and he was crying. The owl said to the bird, "You are crying." "Yes," said the little bird, and he pulled his wing away from his eye. "Oh, I see," said the owl. "You're crying because the big bird pecked out your eye." And the little bird said, "No, I'm not crying because the big bird pecked out my eye. I'm crying because I let him."

It's easy to let influence shape our lives, to let associations determine our direction, to let pressures overwhelm us, and to let tides take us. The big question is, are we letting ourselves become what we wish to become?

Hi Everyone,

I was recently thumbing through one of my favorite books called...

The Quotable Walt Disney available here.

It made me think of some of my favorite Disney quotes.

Here are a few that resonate with me and things I do personally...

Hi Everyone,

A good friend of mine Theresa Puskar (infomercial hostess extraordinaire) gave me something that has become a most cherished gift. In fact, I see and read it everyday.

She took a quote from Theodore Roosevelt and put it in a beautiful frame. What made the gift extra special is that she said I exemplified the quote.

Here it is verbatim.

The credit belongs to the man...
who is actually in the arena...
who strives valiantly...
who knows the great enthusiasms, the great devotions...
and spends himself in a worthy cause...
who at best, know the triumph of high achievement; and...
who, at the worst, if he fails...
at least fails daring greatly, so that his place shall never be with
those cold and timid souls...
who know neither victory nor defeat.

Powerful words.

Like most people, I do not see myself the way others do, and I'll say that I see no reason to live the life of a wallflower. To me that is what loser's do.

I do not believe you or I were put here to waste away in the background or to sit on the sidelines of the great game of life. You're either a player or not.

Remember, there is no perfect time to do what it is you want to do.

- If you want to start a business - start it!
- If you want to raise a family - start it!
- If you want to change your financial plan - start it!
- If you want to be a better spouse - start it!
- If you want to find a better relationship - start it!

You get the point!!!! Whatever you want to do - start it! And don't give me the "my situation is different" or "it's too complicated." That's loser speak! Just another excuse. There's always a way if you're committed. (You know it and I know it - so let's cut the B.S. here and now.)

What are you waiting for? Yesterday is gone and tomorrow never exists. Whether you want to think about it or not - you could die today. Then what?

Personally, I've never run from a worthwhile challenge. That has netted me some great results - contrary to the useless advice of my critics.

In fact, I have to laugh. I can still remember my guidance counselor in high school giving me what turned out to be some of the most useless advice on planet earth. Pretty much everything he told me ended up false. Thankfully, I was a rebellious person then as I am now. I believe in marching to the beat of my own drummer. After all, whose life is this anyway? It's certainly not my families, my wife's, my friend's or anyone elses.

I want to close this blog, whether useful to you or not, with one of my favorite poems. One I live my life by everyday.

It is called ONLY A PERSON WHO RISKS IS FREE by Author Unknown. (I've posted it before and here it is again.)

Here it is my friend...

To laugh is to risk appearing the fool.
To weep is to risk appearing sentimental.
To reach for another is to risk involvement.
To expose your ideas, your dreams, before a crowd is to risk their loss.
To love is to risk not being loved in return.
To live is to risk dying.
To believe is to risk despair.
To try is to risk failure.
But risks must be taken, because the greatest hazard in life is to risk nothing.
The people who risk nothing, do nothing, have nothing, are nothing.
They may avoid suffering and sorrow, but they cannot learn, feel, change, grow, love, live.
Chained by their attitudes they are slaves; they have forfeited their freedom.
Only a person who risks is free.

If you are not taking the chances you know deep down you need to, you have nobody to blame but yourself for your results.

Don't waste time crying to your spouse, family members, friends or anyone else. They likely already know that you are not doing anything but whining and they likely are sick of listening to you. If you don't believe me, think of the reaction you have to a friend or family member who does it to you!

Bottom line: Get off your rear and do something instead of pissing, whining and moaning to others. WE DON'T CARE!

In the end, only you can do what you need to do.

How big are you REALLY thinking?

Just back from Canada after facilitating an "Everything's Negotiable" workshop for ALL the procurement specialists for ALL Canada's major universities.

Great time and glad to be back home!

I was just thumbing through one of my favorite books of all time...

"The Magic of Thinking Big" by the legendary Dr. David J. Schwartz.

In this book, he discusses what is called "Excusitis."

The disease of failure.

You know people who suffer from this, as they always have an excuse for everything that goes wrong and naturally it is never their own fault. (They blame their spouses, parents, kids, bosses, friends, neighbors, colleagues, the list goes on and on and on.)

I may be a little rough on people (like I am myself), but I have to admit, I cannot take much of these people. 99.9% of the time these people do not even truly want help - it is much easier to stay infected by "Excusitis" and use it to fall back on as they fail miserably in their lives.

What most people fail to realize that the ONE constant in all these relationships and scenarios is themselves. (Does that help you get a clue?)

I recently was doing some research online on success and failure, and came across an article that was fascinating by The Kenmarc Company called...

Excusitis – The disease that undermines achievement

Here is is verbatim...

Excusitis – The disease that undermines achievement.

Are you suffering from ''Excusitis"? Excusitis is the “If only …” disease.

SYMPTOMS

If only I had more money; If only I had a better education; If only I were healthier;
If only I were younger; If only I were older; If only I were luckier; If only I were
brought up in a different family; If only I didn’t have a problem spouse. This is the
mental process a victim of this thought-disease goes through.

Like all diseases, Excusitis grows worse if it is not treated properly. Typically, the
victims are unaware that they are suffering from the disease. The very nature of
Excusitis is to produce the mind-deadening thought, "I am not doing as well as I should. What can I use as an alibi that will help me save face?”

Once the victim of this disease has selected a "good" excuse, he lives with it. Then he relies on it to explain to himself and to others why he is not going forward. And each time the victim makes the excuse; the excuse becomes imbedded deeper within his sub-conscious mind.

At first the victim of Excusitis knows his alibi is more or less a lie. But the more
frequently he repeats it, the more convinced he becomes that it is completely true, and that the alibi is the real reason for his not being the success he should be. Thoughts, positive or negative, grow stronger when fertilized with constant repetition.

PERSCRIPTION

To be successful, one must cure the disease that causes failure, Excusitis. To cure it, a proven prescription is required. Fortunately, the prescription exists; it is the emotional antioxidant, “Optimistic Response.”

It is widely known that certain antioxidants found in foods, notably leafy vegetables have a positive impact on the immune system by dramatically reducing risks of cancers as well as other diseases. For this reason, antioxidant vitamins are the most popular and universally respected nutritional supplements.

The Optimistic Response, on the other hand, is a positive visualization process, that manufactures the emotional antioxidant inside the mind, and then pumps it through the bloodstream, and throughout the entire body!

What exactly is the Optimistic Response? Simply stated, Optimistic Response is a habitual way of constructively explaining individual personal setbacks. It is a simple method of thinking and continually re-programming the self-image to yield comprehensive benefits. This approach to thinking heightens the immunity to negative and detrimental influences of all kinds, both physical and mental.

EXCUSITIS vs. OPTIMISTIC RESPONSE

People with “Excusitis” habitually blame undesirable experiences or outcomes on permanent conditions. For example, someone who delivers a speech badly, stumbles over words, and is not well received then says to his or her self-image: 'I'm just not good at speaking in front of groups. 'This turns the unpleasant incident into a permanent condition. The self-image will subsequently turn this into an instruction given to the individual every time this person steps to a podium to deliver a talk – self-fulfilling prophecy.

People that on the prescription “Optimistic Response” acknowledge the existence of a permanent disadvantage but only very reluctantly, and only in the face of overwhelming evidence, so, in the same situation, he or she would be more likely to say to the self-image: 'I did not succeed with my speech, but I can learn to do better the next time. 'Then would go ahead and evaluate how he or she was introduced, organized material, spoke, used humor, dress, and so on, in search of ways to be better and do better. This is the habit of “Optimistic Response” in action.

HABIT OF OPTIMISTIC RESPONSE

1. When you feel frustrated-STOP! Ask yourself if you are giving the power of permanence to something that can be changed. Are you struggling with an unpleasant incident, a temporary set of circumstances, or a permanent condition? Rarely will you be able to support the notion of a permanent condition.

2. Tell your self-image: 'I can figure this out."

3. Remind your self-image of your past achievements that indicate you can figure this out, that you can do better in this situation.

4. Be alert for behavior patterns, doing the same thing the same way, when doing so has been producing unsatisfactory results. Break the pattern!

One Common Sense Truism™ states, “An excuse is never as good as a result”. Utilizing the magic of the Optimistic Response, one cannot only cure the disease of Excusitis, but to achieve virtually unlimited success in any aspect of life.

WOW! Tough stuff! Well maybe not.

Change really can happen in an instant - you just have to decide what you really want obsessively - make the decision that you are moving forward no matter what the consequences - you will make no more excuses - and take small or large steps everyday toward what you want.

And if this does not work for you - go on being miserable. Just stop complaining to others about it - because in the end - NOBODY cares or feels sorry for someone not willing to help themselves.

Dr. Jon Bon Jovi on success?

Hi Everyone,

I admit it! I've been a big Bon Jovi fan since the mid-80s.

I recently came across a speech he gave (after receiving his honorary Doctorate of Humanities degree) at the Monmouth University commencement in West Long Branch, N.J. Wednesday, May 16, 2001.

This speech is like a blueprint for success in any endeavor. It also is a humbling reminder that in the end, we are all equal.

To hell with fear!

Hi Everyone,

Did you know that living in fear, or as it is so well put, "fight or flight" is so debilitating that it shuts down your proper breathing mechanisms and stymies digestion in an instant? It also keeps you from accomplishing anything.

Yikes!

So I have to ask you my friend, "Why live in fear?" If you think about it, 95% of your fears never even materialize. And need I remind you that life is not a dress rehearsal? Yesterday means nothing and tomorrow never comes! Get my drift?

People used to always ask me how I was able to always be so good with the ladies in my earlier years. Well...I don't exactly look like Brad Pitt and I'm not what I term the quintessential charmer - but I have one quality that has served me better than any personally and professionally - I have no fear of rejection nor it's outcome. I just asked more women out and than ANY of my friends. Some said "yes" - and "some said "no!" That's about as complicated as meeting girls was to me.

Everything in life is a numbers game! Everything.

I have a little book that I keep no farther than 10 feet away from me when I'm working called...

I Can't Accept Not Trying: Michael Jordan on the Pursuit of Excellence
by (you guessed it) Michael Jordan, former Chicago Bulls star.

The book is amazing and I flip through it often. It is only 36 pages - but man o' man is it powerful when it comes to teaching you how to eliminate your fears.

"I realized that if I was going to achieve anything in life I had to be aggressive. I had to get out there and go for it. I don't believe you can achieve anything by being passive. I know fear is an obstacle for some people, but it as an illusion to me.

Once I'm in there, I'm not thinking about anything except what I'm trying to accomplish. Any fear is an illusion. You think something is standing in your way, but nothing is really there. What is there is an opportunity to do your best and gain some success."

He's basically repeating the old saying...

"You have nothing to fear but fear itself.

The Law of Detachment and how to use it!

The Law Of Detachment

The sixth spiritual law of success is the Law of Detachment. The Law of Detachment says that in order to acquire anything in the physical universe, you have to relinquish your attachment to it. This doesn't mean you give up the intention to create your desire. You don't give up the intention, and you don't give up the desire. You give up your attachment to the result.

This is a very powerful thing to do. The moment you relinquish your attachment to the result, combining one-pointed intention with detachment at the same time, you will have that which you desire. Anything you want can be acquired through detachment,
because detachment is based on the unquestioning belief in the power of your true Self.

Attachment, on the other hand, is based on fear and insecurity and the need for security is based on not knowing the true Self. The source of wealth, of abundance, or of anything in the physical world is the Self; it is the consciousness that knows
how to fulfill every need. Everything else is a symbol: cars, houses, bank notes, clothes, or airplanes. Symbols are transitory; they come and go. Chasing symbols is like settling for the map instead of the territory. It creates anxiety; it ends up making you feel hollow and empty inside, because you exchange your Self for the symbols of your Self.

Attachment comes from poverty consciousness, because attachment is always to symbols. Detachment is synonymous with wealth consciousness, because with detachment there is freedom to create. Only from detached involvement can one have joy and laughter. Then the symbols of wealth are created spontaneously and effortlessly. Without detachment we are prisoners of helplessness, hopelessness, mundane needs, trivial concerns, quiet desperation, and seriousness the distinctive features of everyday mediocre existence and poverty consciousness.

True wealth consciousness is the ability to have anything you want, anytime you want, and with least effort. To be grounded in this experience you have to be grounded in the wisdom of uncertainty. In this uncertainty you will find the freedom to create anything you want.

People are constantly seeking security, and you will find that seeking security is actually a very ephemeral thing. Even attachment to money is a sign of insecurity. You might say, "When I have X million dollars, then I'll be secure. Then I'll be financially independent and I will retire. Then I will do all the things I really want to do." But it never happens never happens.

Those who seek security chase it for a lifetime without ever finding it. It remains elusive and ephemeral, because security can never come from money alone. Attachment to money will always create insecurity no matter how much money you have in the bank.
In fact, some of the people who have the most money are the most insecure.

The search for security is an illusion. In ancient wisdom traditions, the solution to this whole dilemma lies in the wisdom of insecurity, or the wisdom of uncertainty. This means that the search for security and certainty is actually an attachment to
the known. And what's the known? The known is our past. The known is nothing other than the prison of past conditioning. There's no evolution in that absolutely none at all. And when there is no evolution, there is stagnation, entropy, disorder, and decay.

Uncertainty, on the other hand, is the fertile ground of pure creativity and freedom. Uncertainty means stepping into the unknown in every moment of our existence. The unknown is the field of all possibilities, ever fresh, ever new, always open to the creation of new manifestations. Without uncertainty and the unknown, life is just the stale repetition of outworn memories. You become the victim of the past, and your tormentor today is your self left over from yesterday.

Relinquish your attachment to the known, step into the unknown, and you will step into the field of all possibilities. In your willingness to step into the unknown, you will have the wisdom of uncertainty factored in. This means that in every moment of your life, you will have excitement, adventure, mystery. You will experience the fun of life the magic, the celebration, the exhilaration, and the exultation of your own spirit.

Everyday you can look for the excitement of what may occur in the field of all possibilities. When you experience uncertainty, you are on the right path so don't give it up. You don't need to have a complete and rigid idea of what you'll be doing next week or next year, because if you have a very clear idea of what's going to happen and you get rigidly attached to it, then you shut out a whole range of possibilities.

One characteristic of the field of all possibilities is infinite correlation. The field can orchestrate an infinity of space-time events to bring about the outcome that is intended. But when you are attached, your intention gets locked into a rigid mindset and you lose the fluidity, the creativity, and the spontaneity inherent in the field. When you get attached, you freeze your desire from that infinite fluidity and flexibility into a rigid framework, which interferes with the whole process of creation.

The Law of Detachment does not interfere with the Law of Intention and Desire with goal-setting. You still have the intention of going in a certain direction, you still have a goal. However, between point A and point B there are infinite possibilities. With uncertainty factored in, you might change direction in any moment if you find a higher ideal, or if you find something more exciting. You are also less likely to force
solutions on problems, which enables you to stay alert to opportunities.

The Law of Detachment accelerates the whole process of evolution. When you understand this law, you don't feel compelled to force solutions. When you force solutions on problems, you only create new problems. But when you put your attention on the uncertainty, and you witness the uncertainty while you expectantly wait for the solution to emerge out of the chaos and the confusion, then what emerges is something very fabulous and exciting.

This state of alertness your preparedness in the present, in the field of uncertainty meets with your goal and your intention and allows you to seize the opportunity. What's the opportunity? It's contained within every problem that you have in your life. Every single problem that you have in your life is the seed of an opportunity for some greater benefit. Once you have that perception, you open up to a whole range of possibilities and this keeps the mystery, the wonder, the excitement, the adventure
alive.

You can look at every problem you have in your life as an opportunity for some greater benefit. You can stay alert to opportunities by being grounded in the wisdom of uncertainty. When your preparedness meets opportunity, the solution will spontaneously appear.

What comes out of that is often called "good luck." Good luck is nothing but preparedness and opportunity coming together. When the two are mixed together with an alert witnessing of the chaos, a solution emerges that will be of evolutionary benefit to you and to all those that you come into contact with. This is the perfect recipe for success, and it is based on the Law of Detachment.

Applying The Law Of Detachment

I will put the Law of Detachment into effect by making a commitment to take the following steps:

1. Today I will commit myself to detachment. I will allow myself and those around me the freedom to be as they are. I will not rigidly impose my idea of how things should be. I will not force solutions on problems, thereby creating new problems. I will
participate in everything with detached involvement.

2. Today I will factor in uncertainty as an essential ingredient of my experience. In my willingness to accept uncertainty, solutions will spontaneously emerge out of the problem, out of the confusion, disorder, and chaos. The more uncertain things seem to be, the more secure I will feel, because uncertainty is my path to freedom. Through the wisdom of uncertainty, I will find my security.

3. I will step into the field of all possibilities and anticipate the excitement that can occur when I remain open to an infinity of choices. When I step into the field of all possibilities, I will experience all the fun, adventure, magic, and mystery of life.

Summary & Conclusion

The universal mind choreographs everything that is happening in billions of galaxies with elegant precision and unfaltering intelligence. Its intelligence is ultimate and supreme, and it permeates every fiber of existence: from the smallest to the
largest, from the atom to the cosmos. Everything that is alive is an expression of this intelligence. And this intelligence operates through The Seven Spiritual Laws.

If you look at any cell in the human body, you will see through its functioning the expression of these laws. Every cell, whether it's a stomach cell, or a heart cell, or a brain cell, has its birth in the Law of Pure Potentiality. DNA is a perfect example
of pure potentiality; in fact, it is the material expression of pure potentiality. The same DNA existing in every cell expresses itself in different ways in order to fulfill the unique requirements of that particular cell.

Each cell also operates through the Law of Giving. A cell is alive and healthy when it is in a state of balance and equilibrium. This state of equilibrium is one of fulfillment and harmony, but it is maintained by a constant give and take. Each cell gives to and supports every other cell, and in turn is nourished by every other cell. The cell is always in a state of dynamic flow and the flow is never interrupted. In fact, the flow is the very essence of the life of the cell. And only by maintaining this flow of giving is the cell able to receive and thus continue its vibrant existence.

The Law of Karma is exquisitely executed by every cell, because built into its intelligence is the most appropriate and precisely correct response to every situation as it occurs.

The Law of Least Effort is also exquisitely executed by every cell in the body: it does its job with quiet efficiency in the state of restful alertness.

Through the Law of Intention and Desire, every intention of every cell harnesses the infinite organizing power of nature's intelligence. Even a simple intention such as metabolizing a molecule of sugar immediately sets off a symphony of events in the body where precise amounts of hormones have to be secreted at precise moments to convert this molecule of sugar into pure creative energy.

Of course, every cell expresses the Law of Detachment. It is detached from the outcome of its intentions. It doesn't stumble or falter because its behavior is a function of life-centered, present-moment awareness.

Each cell also expresses the Law of Dharma. Each cell must discover its own source, the higher self; it must serve its fellow beings, and express its unique talents. Heart cells, stomach cells, and immune cells all have their source in the higher self, the field of pure potentiality. And because they are directly linked to this cosmic computer, they can express their unique talents with effortless ease and timeless awareness. Only by expressing their unique talents can they maintain both their own integrity and the integrity of the whole body. The internal dialogue of every cell in the human body is, "How can I help? The heart cells want to help the immune cells, the immune cells want to help the stomach and lung cells, and the brain cells are
listening to and helping every other cell. Every cell in the human body has only one function: to help every other cell.

By looking at the behavior of the cells of our own body, we can observe the most extraordinary and efficient expression of The Seven Spiritual Laws. This is the genius of nature's intelligence. These are the thoughts of God the rest are details.

The Seven Spiritual Laws of Success are powerful principles that will enable you to attain self-mastery. If you put your attention on these laws and practice the steps outlined in this book, you will see that you can manifest anything you want all the
affluence, money, and success that you desire. You will also see that your life becomes more joyful and abundant in every way, for these laws are also the spiritual laws of life that make living worthwhile.

There is a natural sequence for the application of these laws in your daily life that may help you to remember them. The Law of Pure Potentiality is experienced through silence, through meditation, through non-judgment, through communion with nature, but it is activated by the Law of Giving. The principle here is to learn to give that which you seek. That's how you activate the Law of Pure Potentiality. If you seek affluence, give affluence; if you seek money, give money; if you seek love, appreciation, and affection, then learn to give love, appreciation, and affection.

Through your actions in the Law of Giving you activate the Law of Karma. You create good karma, and good karma makes everything in life easy. You notice that you don't have to expend a lot of effort to fulfill your desires, which automatically leads to an
understanding of the Law of Least Effort. When everything is easy and effortless, and your desires keep getting fulfilled, you spontaneously begin to understand the Law of Intention and Desire. Fulfilling your desires with effortless ease makes it easy for you to practice the Law of Detachment.

Finally, as you begin to understand a11 the above laws, you begin to focus on your true purpose in life, which leads to the Law of Dharma. Through the use of this law, by expressing your unique talents and fulfilling the needs of your fellow humans, you begin to create whatever you want, whenever you want it. You become carefree and joyful, and your life becomes an expression of unbounded love.

We are travelers on a cosmic journey stardust, swirling and dancing in the eddies and whirlpools of infinity. Life is eternal. But the expressions of life are ephemeral, momentary, transient. Gautama Buddha, the founder of Buddhism, once said,

This existence of ours is as transient as autumn clouds. To watch the birth and death of beings is like looking at the movements of a dance. A lifetime is like a flash of lightning in the sky, Rushing by like a torrent down a steep mountain.

We have stopped for a moment to encounter each other, to meet, to love, to share. This is a precious moment, but it is transient. It is a little parenthesis in eternity. If we share with caring, lightheartedness, and love, we will create abundance and joy for
each other. And then this moment will have been worthwhile.

What is a friend?

Hi Everyone,

How do you define a friend?

According to Websters.com, a friend is...

1. a person attached to another by feelings of affection or personal regard.
2. a person who gives assistance; patron; supporter: friends of the Boston Symphony.
3. a person who is on good terms with another; a person who is not hostile: Who goes there? Friend or foe?
4. a member of the same nation, party, etc.
5. (initial capital letter) a member of the Religious Society of Friends; a Quaker.
–verb (used with object)
6. Rare. to befriend.
—Idiom
7. make friends with, to enter into friendly relations with; become a friend to.

I personally don't buy into the scholarly crapola above.

I look at it like this...

I've had feelings for many people who are NOT friends!
I've had people assist me and people I've assisted that are NOT friends!
I've had many people that I've been on good terms with that are NOT friends!
I've been a member of many things - NOT one friend to be found!
I've worked with thousands of people in my life and did NOT be-friend any!

So what gives here? Why is this?

Maybe it all lies in the fact, that we all have a different definition of a friend.

I think that legendary philosopher, Jim Rohn, said it best...

A friend is a person who you can call if you were locked in a third-world country - that would do everything it takes to rescue you. They would fly where they had to fly. Talk to who they had to talk to. Scheme and keep scheming. Pay what they have to pay. And stay there until they get the job done - no matter what (or how high) the cost. Now that is a friend!

A friend is NOT necessarily...
- A person in your family you sees on occasion - when it is convenient!
- One of your idiot co-workers who sucks up to you!
- Someone who calls you once or twice a year!
- Your boss or other superior who pretends to do things for you!

I like the concept of having a friend. Luckily i have two that fall into this definition - you may not be so lucky or maybe your luckier. I don't know or care. You're issue not mine.

I wrote this blog because I'm sick of hearing people talking about how many friends they have and fooling themselves. I'm also sick of all the naive people who are so disappointed when they're so-called friends abandon them when they really need something. Or their friends all disappear when the going gets tough.

Why does this seem to happen all the time?

Get a clue my friend - they're not likely a real friend!

Before you judge me - think real hard about what I'm saying.

Also, in closing...

If you expect someone to be a friend - you must also be one.

The laws cull their principles from many great schemers--and scheming instructors--throughout history, from Sun-Tzu to Talleyrand, from Casanova to con man Yellow Kid Weil. They are straightforward in their amoral simplicity: "Get others to do the work for you, but always take the credit," or "Discover each man's thumbscrew." This is not your usual get-rich-quick manual. With his own fortune estimated at between $400 million and $900 million, he doesn't have to be. Instead, Dennis wants to demystify the money-getting process, and his straight-talking, honest advice makes a refreshing change in this oversaturated field. Using humorous examples from his own business life, Dennis's advice, from The Five Most Common Start-Up Errors to The Power of Focus, might sound like conventional fare, but delivered in his signature bawdy, British style, it's altogether more entertaining—and more practical. How to get started writing a book!

Hi Everyone,

As most of you know, I'm a bestselling author, having written several books quickly. I've also been an executive in the self-help publishing world for one hell of a long time.

So...

Here is my expert (I really hate that word) advice for getting started as an author...

1. Pick a topic
2. Write an ad for the book to see if it's salable
3. Investigate where the market resides so you can sell your work
4. Get off your butt and write the darn thing
5. Find someone like a celebrity with an audience, who can help you spread the word
6. Market like crazy.

Sound simplistic? Maybe. It is really that easy.

Don't over-complicate or over-think the process.

The big thing is getting started!

How to become a skinny bitch!

My wife Stephanie turned me on to a bitchin' book called "Skinny Bitch."

It's full of great information on how to lose weight eating right and making logical, not faddish, lifestyle and food changes. It also discusses the disgusting meat and dairy industries and their destruction and literal conscious torture of innocent animals.

In fact...

There's a great review you can read here. Saves me the trouble of sitting here writing a complete review.

The title is great and targets women. Still...everything is relevant to men also. If you're title or gender sensitive (and if you are I feel sorry for you) change it and all the references the book contains to "Skinny Ass." The book is written with a cocky reassured style, containing some occasional profanity (which is always hot coming from women) and other well-received to-the-point information.

To naysayers...

Hi Everyone,

As most of you know, I'm brash, I'm to the point, I take no prisoners, and tell it like it is. OR...at least the way I see it. One person even said, "I'm too Chicago." Which by the way is of the highest compliment. Whether you like me or hate me - I'm not going away!

Today, I choose to get on my egg crate and address naysayers.

To those of you who choose to put others down, kill people's dreams, and otherwise choose to make yourselves feel better at other's expense, listen up.

First of all your remarks do nothing to further life or advance people so you're wasting your time in the big picture. I will guarantee you are a nothing, doing nothing, helping nothing, advancing nothing - in other words...A NOTHING! Did you look in the mirror lately?

Why not spend your time encouraging others and possibly getting off your lazy rear and doing something more productive than talking about people to others. In the end, I can guarantee whoever your talking to about others is sick of listening to you and is just being polite - anxiously awaiting to hang up with you or get as far away as possible.

Whenever someone puts someone down to me - I know that chances are they're talking about me to others. It is inevitable. If I thought otherwise, I'd be a jackass. To which I'm not.

Case in point...

I can still remember a high school English teacher that tried to convince me I was functionally illiterate. We'll shortly after that statement was made, I graduated Western Illinois University on the National Deans List, became a business executive, and am now a successful author with multiple books selling.

I also want to address those ultra-sensitive people out there.

The next time someone supposedly hurts your feelings or says something you do not like. Address them head on! Not through others. And in the words of Frank Barone (Everybody Loves Raymond), "Get off your pity-pot and suck it up Nancy." Don't use others to fight your battles. If it is not important enough to address yourself - it obviously means it is not very important to really address, you're just trying to influence someone else to think a certain way. Which basically means your a sneaky, manipulating loser.

I've been reading a real great book called "Secrets of the Millionaire Mind" by T. Harv Eker.

This book is a real eye-opener about how the rich think compared to the lower and middle class.

One of my favorite passes from this book of literary genius is...

"There's nothing wrong with getting a steady paycheck, unless it interferes with your ability to earn what you're worth. There's the rub. It usually does."

Another great passage...

"Rich people act in spite of fear. Poor people let fear stop them."

There's so much more detail in this book, I can't do it justice. All I can say is that if you're not wealthy - BUY IT!

Hi Everyone,

I was just listening to one of the best audio programs ever made - "The Art of Exceptional Living" by Jim Rohn.

In this program, Jim makes one of the most profound statements. One I've reminded myself about for over 10 years and it proves itself consistently. You know what that statement is - "All good will be attacked!" Wow! And this is coming from a positive thinking guru! What does that tell you my friend?

And its true - ALL GOOD WILL BE ATTACKED!

In fact, this way overdue blog was prompted by a recent review I received. One I cherish and am relishing in, as it's prompted me to do something private - yet incredible. One that makes me say, "Cha-Ching!" And no...I'm not willing to share it with anyone just yet.

I always find that when I do my best work - be it consulting, writing a book, selling, blogging, or anything else, someone or some organization always tries to rain on my parade. Which is great because once someone does that me or you - we own them. During the time they're wasting criticizing and bashing you - you own their mind, body, and spirit. Such petty fools. Have not they any brains? (Sounded like Yoda there!)

But hey - sometimes you even have to love a petty insignificant fool. Which is how they usually stay! OK...scratch that love mumbo-jumbo. You don't have to love anyone or be loved. Can you say, "Delusion?"

In fact, I personally thrive on being attacked - because people quickly learn it has no impact on me - in fact, it energizes me to do more, be more, and have more. Which is why deal-making and negotiating come so easy to me. I gave up my emotional nerve endings sometime back in the early 80s!

So let's cut the B.S. and get right to it.

If someone wrongly attacks you in any way, here's what I think you should do...

- Ignore them because chances are they will not attack one-on-one and confront you. What's the word I'm searching for --- "coward!"
- Let them light a fire under you to have more, be more, and do more!
- Laugh --- and laugh long and hard! Why? Because the person or organization is a joke! You even to have to laugh at a bad joke once in a while.
- Eradicate the cancerous person or organization from your life. Perform mental chemotherapy on yourself. "Cancer be gone."
- Let them stay transparent and keep attacking you. Hey there's a thought! By the way, I've always said it's the quiet one in the room you have to watch - not the blowhard blabber mouth!

Most of all remember, if someone is personally attacking you, they fear and are intimidated by you, think you have power, understand you're nobody to mess with, and are scared to death of who you are and what you represent. They won't admit - but trust me, they have issues or they would not attack you in the first place. Do you attack people you do not worry or care about?

Can you please say "common sense?"

I know these are tough words - but think and long and hard about them. These words come from many astute years as a premier direct marketer and deal-maker, many years as a consultant & salesman, and many years of being a decent hard working person - at least by my definition.

So here's what I suggest you do for at least 30 days. Throw away the positive affirmations that say, "The world is perfect," and "Attitude is everything" and say, "ALL GOOD WILL BE ATTACKED." This way you'll be ready to deal in another reality.

And by the way, the review prompted me to write this blog to help others - maybe you. I didn't need to mentally cleanse myself on paper.

There's nothing wrong with a little paranoia. After all, who knows what lurks in the shadow? Only the shadow knows! LOL!

Hi Everyone,

I just returned from Dr. Joe Vitale's mansion in sunny Wimberley, TX.

And man oh man - we had very productive business meetings and spent some quality time just hanging out under the TX sun.

One of my favorite things is to do is talk books with Joe and peruse his extensive library of over 10,000 titles. And "no" - I'm not exaggerating. He has at least 10,000 titles. In fact, everyday I'm there, he gets books delivered by the U.S. Postal Service, Fed-Ex, and UPS. It's really incredible.

And during this trip something funny happened.

I was going through the shelves containing all the books that Joe has penned himself. And I came across at title I had not read. Which is incredible in and of itself.

The title is "At Your Command."

So here I am for three days and nights walking past this book and even perusing it's pages - taking it on and off the shelf feverishly. Weird I know! The book was literally calling out to me. At the time, I brushed it off.

Finally as me and Stephanie were putting our bags in the trunk saying our last goodbyes to Joe and Nerissa, I quickly asked Joe if I could have a copy of the book to read on the flight back.

He said, "absolutely," gave it to me, and off we went. I started reading the book at the airport and when I came back to Chicago. Well...I'm starting it for the third time. I'm enthralled by it.

I'm not going to give you a whole heck of a lot of details - the book is about how our outer world is determined by our consciousness. Let's leave it at that.

On another note...I finally got to ride in one of Joe's smoking hot cars. I drove from Wimberley to Austin in his quarter million dollar BMW race car. Which by the way is my favorite of all the cars! So way cool there! Francine and Ladybug are next. Though I must say that Nerissa's hybrid drives like a dream.

By the way...my new book "Buying Secrets Retailers DON'T Want You to Know About" is completed - as well as the two bonuses I wrote - due for release early next month.

OK...it's 6am and I have work to do. Remember - "Money Likes Speed."

How to keep from going stir crazy working at home!

Hi Everyone,

I love working from home! The benefits are endless...mainly seeing more of my terrific wife Stephanie and not having to commute to, and spend time at some useless corporate concentration camp - oops, I mean "campus."

Still...

I personally spend 10-12 hours per day working and reading at my desk...7 DAYS A WEEK!

Many people ask me how I do this and keep from going stir crazy working from home.

Here are some tips for effectively working at home (without going stir crazy)...
- Stay out of the office when you're not working or busy on projects!
- Don't be distracted by domestic chores and other interruptions!
- Take few, if any, personal calls!
- Wear comfortable, casual clothes!
- Get up and stretch every hour for a few minutes!
- Schedule conference calls at different intervals all day - every day!
- Use state-of-the-art technology - mainly Apple everything!
- Use high speed, wireless internet for efficiency!
- Get out and take a walk halfway through the day!
- Exercise - every so often I do some resistance training or use my arm/wrist strengthener!
- Sit in a damn comfortable chair!
- Have all your reference books in close proximity!
- Work one day at your local public library!
- Enjoy what you do!

And most important, when you're done working, stay the hell out of the office!

I've been working from home, for over six years now. It's not for everyone. The bottom line is that it's becoming more common due to today's technology.

Take advantage! Besides...do you want to spend 40 hours per day working in an office you hate, with a bunch of backstabbing, political, kiss a**, moronic puppets?

What a party it was!

Hi Everyone,

Me and Stephanie just returned from Wimberley, TX - about an hour out of Austin. Our first time in TX!

We stayed at the exclusive Blair House Inn which is located way in the country. It was intense, as me and Stephanie were the only ones staying at this HUGE villa-based bed and breakfast. There we were in the country surrounded by scorpions, mountain lions, and many other hungry critters (saying w/Texas accent). And yes, thank you, we survived! LOL!

We also spent every waking minute with the legendary Joe Vitale and Nerissa Oden, wining and dining, doing business, and playing with their array of cats and their dog Wolfy! What a week!

And yes, we took tons of pictures, which will be posted on the next blog. Those include moments basking in the presence of Joe's babies, Francine and the Ladybug! Though I I have to admit, I was inclined to want to take his 645 BMW for a spin. What a beauty!

As most of you may already know, I've been named Vice President of Marketing & Product Development for Hypnotic Marketing.

This has been in the works for quite some time and it's a great partnership.

As part of the process, a party was held at the world famous Cedar Grove Steakhouse to formally make the announcement. In attendance was my wife Stephanie, Joe Vitale himself, Nerissa Oden, many business owners, a famous Super Bowl star, a famous QVC star, fellow best selling authors, and most importantly new friends!

Also, I'll be doing a once in a lifetime interview with fellow author Craig Perrine next week discussing negotiation and my upcoming new book. Hi Everyone,

I'm not into empty compliments or flattering people for the sake of flattering. That's for 99% of people. I'm proud to represent the exception.

Yet...there is a certain group of people that I'll admire until I gasp my last dying breath on this earth. It's the VERY FEW people who are not wasting time looking back on their past and allowing it to become their excuse for failure. These people move forward!

Let's cut to the chase...

If you have a past relationship that did not work...GET OVER IT! If you had a business that failed...GET OVER IT! If you expected something to happen that didn't...GET OVER IT! If your spouse or lover ditched you...GET OVER IT! If your company fired you...GET OVER IT!

Don't take anti-depressants, don't make another trip to the local shrink, don't blame the government, don't whine to people who are sick of hearing you whine...JUST GET OVER IT AND MOVE ON! In the end that's all it's going to come down to anyway.

Stop making excuses and letting your past dictate your future. I remember one day being at a gathering and heard someone make the comment --- "Sometimes you just have to do what you have to do." I couldn't have said it better!

Oh...maybe I can...

"To get ahead - you have to move ahead - and to move ahead - you need to look straight ahead."

To risk or not to risk?

Hi Everyone,

I remember a question asked during one of my favorite movies "The Emperor's Club." The instructor asked one of his students, "How do you want to be remembered?"

When I first heard that question I got goosebumps while pondering my own answers. I rattled off a whole list of answers. And then I realized that to get to any of these lofty goals I would have to take some chances. Some educated risks if you will. That has lead to some very significant changes in not only my personal growth - also my sense of adventure.

This was a major breakthrough for me!

So I have a challenge for you. Answer the question, "How do you want to be remembered?"

Make out a list of things you'd like to be remembered for and go for your dreams, take chances, and make life an adventure. Get out of the whirling cesspool of misery and foreboding doom! Get off your rear, stop blaming the government, your age, your coworkers, and most of all stop making excuses for being where you're at. It's your own fault! And you MUST deal with it!

Remember one of my favorite passages titled "RISK"...

To laugh is to risk appearing the Fool
To weep is to risk appearing Sentimental
To reach out for another is to risk Involvement
To expose feelings is to risk exposing your True Self
To place your dreams before a Crowd
is to risk their Loss
To love is to risk not being loved in Return
To live is to risk Dying
To hope is to risk Despair
To try is to risk Failure

But risk must be Taken, because
The greatest hazard in life is to risk Nothing.
The person who risks Nothing
Does nothing - has nothing - and is Nothing
They may avoid suffering and Sorrow,
But they cannot learn - feel - Change -
Grow - Love - Live
Chained by their Certitudes,
They are a Slave;
They have forfeited their Freedom.
Only a person who risks is Free.

I'm not religious but I'm still going to say, "AMEN!"

I was out doing some bargain shopping the other day and came across a tremendous book at a used bookstore.

The book is called "Public Relation Kit For Dummies."

As most of you already know, I have vast experience in the area of Public Relations and Publicity. One of my publicity stunts alone is considered the largest PR stunt in Chicago history for a restaurant chain and I'M DAMN PROUD OF IT!

In this book, there is a section called "Defining Your Goals and Objectives."

It says, and I agree, that the five main components to PR goal setting include:
1. Knowing the key message you want to communicate!
2. Defining your marketing objective!
3. Understanding your audience!
4. Knowing the response you want from your PR!
5. Knowing the media you want to target!

Now I did not have this book, and relied on intuition in my early PR days. This was costly.

During this program, Brian asks, "what would you do today if you knew you could not fail?"

What a profound question! The answer may be the key to our purpose in life and where we should focus our efforts.

So ask yourself - "what would I do if I knew I could not fail?" Now that you have the answer - write it down and get started doing it!

And that's what I'm going to do now...wrap up my new book.

Don't fall into the one income stream trap!

Hi Everyone,

Most people reading this blog have only one income stream and they will call it job "security." This is the worst attitude to have when it comes to protecting you and your family's well-being. With one small swoop - you're income STOPS my friend!

The truth of the matter is the smartest people financially have multiple streams of income.

Here are the facts...
- Your company could go bankrupt anytime and throw you out on the street!
- You likely not as "loved" as you think!
- Someone is always gutting for your position!
- Your boss who loved and protected you could be fired or forced out tomorrow!
- Some "so-called" manager may determine you have a poor attitude and toss you on out on your rear!
- That same "so-called" manager may never "anoint" you to the next level because of their own insecurities!
- Your company's "so-called" ivy league, big wig executives may be robbing the company blind!
- You may raise a negative issue and be considered "too negative" to be on the team!
- Your company may have a "moonlighting" rule which is meant for one reason only...to keep you down!
- Your organization could be bought up!
- The same people who were once your "so-called" friends will be having a security guard walk you out on your last day like some hardened criminal!
- You likely have a co-worker in the shadows that wants to make a name for themselves by turning others like yourself in!
- Like it or not, for some unforeseen reason, you will likely be the target of some political B.S. at some point in your career! (Yes that means you too Wonderboy!)

The list goes on and on!

So always ask yourself...
- Do I have a financial contingency plan?
- What will I do if I lose my "so-called" secure job?
- Is having one income really that smart and secure?
- How can I generate additional income streams?

This is a great start.

Remember, NOBODY will ever take care of you like you will. When push comes to shove, your coworkers, colleagues, and bosses will likely throw you under the bus to protect themselves. I didn't write this rule, it's just an unfortunate reality everyone in the employment world has to live with. And I'm sure you all know people who have been a part of this on one side or another. Maybe it was you!

Case in point --- Some years ago I worked for a "so-called" perfect organization that preached all these morals and other company catchphrases like having fun on the job, feeling empowered, and other company "rah" "rah" "sis" "boom" "bah" talk. I decided I wanted to make more money and went looking for a new job. What happened? An HR rep found out I was looking and reported it to one of my bosses. The result - I was subtly forced out! Forced out by people who pretended to be my friends, talked great to my face, told me how wonderful I was, and how good a job I was doing. So much for waiting 50 years for the gold-plated banana - oops I meant watch!

Keep one thing in mind. I'm not complaining. I'm simply trying to make a point that "no" job is secure. NOT EVEN YOURS! And if you think it is...you need this blog more than anyone.

Hi Everyone,

I had the privlege and honor to spend last Friday, Saturday, and Sunday with my wife Stephanie, Nerissa "Video Queen" Oden, and the legendary Joe "Mr Fire" Vitale.

Joe was in town starring at the Learning Annex's Wealth Expo in Rosemont, IL. We spent time together eating in the finest restaurants, touring a museum, and attending a seminar by Tony Robbins.

On the final day of the expo, Joe gave an unbelievable speech on "The Key" which is based on his new book. It was incredible. The majority of Joe's speech was on how to clear past beliefs that are blocking you from taking action in your life. It was spine-tingling. In fact, Joe was the only speaker to get a standing ovation.

I was so moved by Joe's speech, I raced home after dropping Joe and Nerissa off at their hotel and started reading the complimentary, autographed/inscribed, personal copy of "The Key" that Joe was so kind to give me. I could not put it down!

I read the book in less than one day and used JUST TWO of the 10 clearing methods that Joe recommended to unblock a limiting belief and take action on something I've been putting off. Oh...what a feeling that is! You need to try it.

Get on Apple Leopard today!

Hi Everyone,

As most of you know, I'm a diehard Apple Computer junkie. I have an iMac, iPods, Apple TV...ok you get it! (Oh...and when my Verizon contract runs out, I'm trashing by Blackberry for an iPhone!)

Now, I must bow my head and cross my hands, get on my knees and thank the higher powers (at Apple of course) for the new Leopard operating system.

Not only does it do more than Windows Vista could have dreamed of - it's far more robust with FAR superior functionality.

And for those of you stuck in the dark ages of "Windows" - Leopard allows you to load Windows and run Windows-based applications on your Mac. So the question...why waste your hard-earned money on yesterday's "Windows" technology anymore?

Bottom line...it's time for a Mac. Chck them out here.

Stop in any Apple store and see for yourself.

A rare moment between Peter Wink & Joe "Mr. Fire" Vitale

I recently spent a few days hanging around with my good friend Dr. Joe Vitale - star of the hit movie "The Secret" and his lovely companion Nerissa "The Video Queen" Oden.

After a great dinner we had the chance to sit down in his luxury suite and chat for a couple hours. And of course, Nerissa videotaped everything!

Nerissa taped one real cool segment in particular that I want to share with you. Here, me and Joe discussed one of the ways I sold Nightingale-Conant on making him an author. The video is titled "Is this the way it happened?" and you can view it here.

I came across this passage called "RISK" and wanted to share it with all of you. It's a great summation of risk/reward.

BTW...If this passage strikes a chord with you, I would suggest reading it until it really sinks in. And then do something about it. Take a risk of some sort today! Success loves timeliness.

Ok...I have to run. I'm wrapping up the galley of my newest book. What's funny is that I'm almost finished -- 500 pages worth -- and I do not have a publisher yet. I may even publish it myself! Talk about risk! No worries, I finished my last book before I had a publisher and everything worked out just fine. Sometimes you have to step out on faith. Not religious faith - faith in yourself and your internal abilities!

Hi Everyone,

If there's one pet peeve I have it's this...

People Who Say They Will Do Things And Don't!

Sometime do an experiment. For one week, write down everything that people tell you they will do for you or themselves. Also, write down when it will supposedly be done. And don't leave anyone out...friends, spouse, family, co-workers, acquaintances, EVERYONE! Nobody is safe!

Then for the next 30 days, go back to your list and see what was really done. And then call people on it. Most will give you blank stares or a smug smirk. Some will act surprised and some will lie and say they have no idea what you're talking about. And then there's the very few who followed through. Thanks God for those precious soles!

Bottom line: Never take anyone's word at face value until they've proven themselves consistently. There's an old saying - "you'll see it when you believe it." I'm changing it to "only believe it when you see it!" Otherwise, you put on rose-colored glasses, become delusional, state goofy worthless positive affirmations to yourself, start believing in the minds-eye, the salesman takes you for everything you're worth, and then one day you end up locked in a nut-house wondering what just happened.

Think for yourself and make people earn your respect. And never believe anything anyone says who stands to profit from you - until they've proven worthy! Actions not words!

And please don't take this blog in a negative way until you try this experiment for yourself.

OK...I'm sick of writing and looking forward to heading out into the Chicago sunshine.
